Find the class of the following two addresses :
(a) 0000 0001 0000 1011 00001011 11101111
(b) 14.23.120.8
Answer: D
Both addresses are Class A, Class A.
An IPv4 address's class depends on its first octet: 0 to 127 (first bit 0) is class A, 128 to 191 is B, 192 to 223 is C, and 224 to 239 is D.
(a) The first byte 00000001 starts with 0, which is decimal 1, so it is class A. (b) The first byte of 14.23.120.8 is 14, also between 0 and 127, so it is class A too. Hence options naming B, C or D are wrong.
