The receiver architecture in which the local oscillator sits on the signal frequency, giving a zero intermediate frequency, is called ______ conversion.
Answer: A
This is direct conversion, sometimes called zero-IF or homodyne reception. Double conversion uses two intermediate frequencies in succession. Up-conversion places the first intermediate frequency above the signal band. And single conversion is the ordinary superhet with one mixer. Four architectures distinguished by where they put the intermediate frequency, and naming them by that choice makes their properties follow without further memorising.
