GRIHA is a rating tool for Buildings.
GRIHA, Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment, was developed by TERI with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and adopted as India's national green building rating system in 2007. It scores a building over its life cycle on site planning, energy and water efficiency, materials, waste and indoor comfort, and awards one to five stars.
It is not a scheme for airlines, industries or automobiles. Vehicles in India carry fuel-efficiency and emission norms, and industries are assessed through environmental clearance and pollution-board consent, but GRIHA applies only to buildings and habitats.
