What does the word 'Coupon' here mean ?
Answer: C
'Coupon' here means a railway ticket.
The passage says 'you show your coupon to the conductor and he tells you to board'. The paper that you show to the conductor to be allowed on the train is the ticket, the entitlement to travel. The conductor checks it against the passenger list.
A passport is a travel document for crossing borders and is not shown to a train conductor. A counterfoil is the part of a ticket or cheque that is kept, and a pass is a season or concession document, which the passage does not mention.
