In which state the first Advanced Studies Education Centre was started by the University Grants Commission to raise the standard of teacher education ?
Answer: D
The first such centre was in Gujarat.
The UGC set up the Centre of Advanced Study in Education (CASE) in 1963 at the Faculty of Education and Psychology of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara. It was the first centre of advanced study in education in India, created to raise the standard of teacher education and educational research.
Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan have important institutions, such as the Regional Institutes of Education at Bhopal and Ajmer, but those were founded by NCERT and are not the UGC's first advanced study centre in education.
