Which separation between the two curves indicates dry air?
Answer: A
The horizontal distance between the temperature and dew point curves is the dew point depression, so a wide separation means the air is far from saturation and therefore dry. Where the curves coincide the air is saturated and cloud is present. Reading the depression at a glance is the quickest way to identify cloud layers and dry intrusions on a sounding. Reading the definition literally, rather than recalling a formula, is the reliable route through questions of this shape.
