Which feature identifies a frontal inversion instead?
Answer: D
Warm moist air overrunning colder air at a front produces an inversion in which the upper air is both warmer and moister, often with cloud within it. That contrasts with the dry warm air of a subsidence inversion. Distinguishing the two from the humidity structure alone is a routine piece of sounding interpretation.
