Which area represents the convective inhibition?
Answer: D
Convective inhibition is the negative area where the parcel is cooler than its environment, and it measures the energy that must be supplied to lift the parcel to its level of free convection. A large inhibition can cap convection for hours and then permit explosive development once removed. Reading both areas together gives a far better picture than either alone. Framing the question as which quantity the change acts upon makes the answer follow without calculation.
