Discussion
A substance has an enthalpy change of 40 kilojoules per mole and an entropy change of 100 joules per mole kelvin at 300 kelvin. What is the Gibbs energy change?
Answer: A
Subtracting the temperature times the entropy change, that is thirty kilojoules, from forty leaves ten kilojoules per mole. Failing to convert joules to kilojoules is what produces answers wrong by a factor of a thousand.
