Children learn to add new words through a process called
Answer: A
Children add new words through fast mapping. After hearing a word only once or twice in a context, a child forms a quick, rough idea of its meaning and links it to the object, and then refines it later. This explains the rapid growth of vocabulary in the preschool years.
'New mapping' is not a standard term. Extension (or overextension) is the use of a word for more objects than it properly covers, and 'inspiration' has no place in vocabulary learning. So fast mapping is the answer.
