Identify the correct order in which the following Library Committees were set up :
(i) Gopal Rao Ekbote Committee
(ii) V. Gopalkrishnayya Committee
(iii) D.P. Chattopadhyaya Committee
(iv) Sinha Committee
Answer: D
The order is (iv), (i), (ii), (iii): Sinha, Ekbote, Gopalkrishnayya, Chattopadhyaya.
The Sinha Committee, set up by the Government of India in 1957 to draft a model public libraries act, is the earliest of the four. The D.P. Chattopadhyaya Committee, which in 1985-86 drew up the National Policy on Library and Information System, is the latest.
Only one option starts with the Sinha Committee and ends with the Chattopadhyaya Committee. Of the others, one starts with Chattopadhyaya, one ends with Sinha and one ends with the Gopalkrishnayya Committee, so they cannot be right.
