Consider the following statements about temperature scales.
1. A temperature difference of one kelvin equals one degree Celsius.
2. A temperature difference of one degree Rankine equals one degree Fahrenheit.
3. A temperature of 20 degrees Celsius equals 20 kelvin.
Answer: C
The first two are correct because the scales differ only in their zero. The third confuses a temperature with a difference, and twenty degrees Celsius is about two hundred and ninety-three kelvin. Adding 273 converts a Celsius temperature to kelvin.
