What is a hypsochromic shift?
Answer: B
Hypsochromic, or blue, is a shift to shorter wavelength and hence higher energy, while bathochromic is the shift the other way. Intensity changes are hyperchromic and hypochromic. Four terms covering two independent axes, and since a change of solvent or substituent typically moves a band on both at once, all four are needed to describe what happened.
