Supreme Court was directed in judgement given in 1991, to make the subject ............................, compulsory in the college curricula.
Answer: B
The subject was environmental study.
In 1991, hearing a public interest petition filed by the environmental lawyer M. C. Mehta, the Supreme Court directed that environmental education be made a compulsory subject in schools and colleges, and asked the University Grants Commission to bring it into the curriculum. This is why environmental studies became a compulsory course for undergraduates.
Women's studies, information technology and value education have been promoted by policy, but none of them was made compulsory by that 1991 judgement.
