Which capability do over the air updates require?

Remote updating needs connectivity, authentication and usually a second memory bank so a failure can be rolled back. The last option describes exactly those requirements, which makes it a correct and more complete statement. The order in which the effects act is what decides the outcome, so it is worth establishing first. Working the distinction through on a single concrete case fixes it more firmly than any rule of thumb. The quantity that varies and the quantity that does not are worth naming before any substitution is attempted.
