A poem always has
Answer: D
Correct answer: Words
The question asks what is always present, not what usually is. A poem is a composition in words, so words are what it cannot lack. Rhyme is a device many poems use and many do not: blank verse and free verse are unrhymed, and most of Shakespeare’s dramatic verse rhymes only occasionally. A title is a convenience of publication, and a great many poems are known only by their first lines. Stanzas divide some poems and not others; a continuous verse paragraph is equally a poem.
