Which of the following viruses belongs to the family orthomyxoviridae?
Answer: A
The orthomyxovirus is the influenza virus.
The family Orthomyxoviridae consists of enveloped viruses with a segmented, negative-sense RNA genome. Influenza viruses A, B and C belong to it, and the segmented genome is what allows the reassortment behind new pandemic strains.
Hepatitis B virus is a DNA virus of the family Hepadnaviridae. Poliovirus belongs to the Picornaviridae, small non-enveloped RNA viruses. Rabies virus is a bullet-shaped member of the Rhabdoviridae.
