In which year the 'Copyright Act' came into force ?
Answer: B
The Copyright Act came into force in India in 1957. The Copyright Act, 1957 was passed by Parliament in that year and replaced the older colonial law of 1914, giving authors, artists and composers statutory protection for their original works.
1947 is the year of independence, not of this Act. 1952 and 1989 are not years in which the principal Act was enacted; the Act has since been amended several times, but the original date remains 1957. Artists and designers should know it because it governs ownership and reproduction of their work.
