Both (A) and (R) are true and (R) is the correct explanation of (A).
The assertion restates Vygotsky's idea of the zone of proximal development and scaffolding: a more knowledgeable other, whether teacher or peer, gives guidance that lets a learner do what he or she cannot yet do alone.
The reason states the principle behind it: in Vygotsky's sociocultural theory, learning and development arise through social interaction. Because learning is fundamentally social, interaction with more knowledgeable others supports it, so the reason explains the assertion.
