According to constructivist theorists, which of the following statements would not be correct ?
Answer: C
The statement constructivists would reject is that learners need to be extrinsically motivated to ensure effective learning.
Constructivist theory sees learners as active makers of meaning who learn best when driven by their own curiosity and interest. It values intrinsic motivation and treats rewards and punishments as a behaviourist device, not a condition of effective learning.
The other statements are constructivist claims: knowledge is subjective, built by each learner; it is constructed in a social and cultural context (Vygotsky's social constructivism); and it is plural, since different learners can construct different valid understandings.
