Discussion
Arrange the stages of a typical mill water treatment train in order.
1. softening or demineralisation
2. screening and settling of raw water
3. distribution to the process points
4. filtration to remove suspended solids
Answer: D
Suspended matter must go before the softener or the resin bed fouls, and each stage protects the one that follows. Distribution is last because the treated water is what the process actually needs. Each stage protects the one after it.
