A medium range forecast is valid for 3 days to about 2 weeks.
Weather forecasts are classed by lead time. Short range covers up to about 3 days. Medium range covers from about 3 days to around 10 days, up to two weeks in some usages, the period for which numerical weather prediction still has useful skill in day-to-day weather. Extended range covers from about 2 weeks to a month, and long range covers a month to a season.
3 to 5 weeks and 4 to 6 weeks are extended or long range. About 2 to 3 weeks is the extended-range (sub-seasonal) window, not medium range.
