What is the purpose of flux in soldering?
Answer: A
Flux in soldering is used to prevent formation of oxide.
Solder will not wet a surface covered with oxide. The flux cleans away the thin oxide film and shields the joint from air while it is hot, so fresh oxide cannot form and the solder can flow and bond to the clean metal.
Flux does not lower the melting point of the solder, which is set by the alloy's composition, and it does not wash away surplus solder. Since those two are false, 'All of the above' is wrong.
