Discussion
In the following question, a group of letters is given which are numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Below are given four alternatives containing combinations of these numbers. Select that combination of numbers so that letters arranged accordingly, form a meaningful word.
C E L S M U
1 2 3 4 5 6
Answer: B
Correct answer: 5, 6, 4, 1, 3, 2
The letters are C E L S M U, and taken in that order they spell MUSCLE.
Read the option as a set of positions: 5 = M 6 = U 4 = S 1 = C 3 = L 2 = E.
None of the other three orders produces an English word, so checking each against the letter list is quicker than trying to build the word from scratch.
