General Awareness / General Knowledge (GK) [ Question No: 1 To 20 ] :
Gersoppa (Jog) Falls is situated at the river ______ .
Your Answer : (Not Answered)
Correct Answer : A
Jog Falls is on the Sharavathi river.
Gersoppa or Jog Falls is in the Shivamogga (Shimoga) district of Karnataka, where the Sharavathi plunges about 253 m down the Western Ghats in four streams known as Raja, Rani, Rover and Rocket. It is one of the highest plunge waterfalls in India.
The Indravati flows through Odisha and Chhattisgarh and forms the Chitrakote falls. The Sabarmati flows through Rajasthan and Gujarat. The Hemavati is a Karnataka tributary of the Kaveri, but Jog Falls is not on it.
Given below are two statements: One is labelled as Assertion A and the other is labelled as Reason R.
Assertion A: Some of the unpleasant sensation prior to vomiting are hyper salivation, sweating tachycardia etc.
Reason R: Slow heart rate also occurs prior to vomiting.
In the light of the above statements, choose the most appropriate answer from the options given below:
Your Answer : (Not Answered)
Correct Answer : B
The key is Both A and R are correct but R is not the correct explanation of A.
Vomiting is preceded by nausea and a burst of autonomic activity. Excess salivation, sweating, pallor and a fast heart rate are the usual signs (Assertion). Clinical nursing references also list a slow heart rate among the findings before vomiting, because the vagus nerve is active as well, so the Reason is true.
R does not explain A: slowing of the heart is a different effect and cannot be the reason for hyper salivation, sweating or a fast pulse, so option A is wrong. Options C and D each call a true statement false.
According to Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha - Rules of procedure 'Minister' means :
a. A Minister of state
b. A Member of the council of minister
c. A Deputy Minister
d. Nominated members of the House
Choose the most appropriate option from below :
Your Answer : (Not Answered)
Correct Answer : B
The answer is a, b and c only.
The Rules of Procedure of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly define 'Minister' as a member of the Council of Ministers, and the definition expressly includes a Minister of State and a Deputy Minister. So statements a, b and c all fall within it.
Nominated members of the House are members of the Assembly, not ministers, unless they are separately appointed to the Council of Ministers. That excludes statement d and the option including it. Options leaving out b or c are incomplete.
The Agromet Forecasting and Research Centre is located at __________ .
Your Answer : (Not Answered)
Correct Answer : C
The Centre is located at Dharwad.
The North Karnataka Agromet Forecasting and Research Centre was set up at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, by the India Meteorological Department with the University and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, to serve farmers of North Karnataka. It was inaugurated in 2019 and has issued weekly agromet advisory bulletins since August 2020.
Bengaluru has the agrometeorology unit at GKVK, a separate research project and not the forecasting centre. Bagalkot and Mysuru do not host it.
In which year was the ‘POCSO Act’ introduced?
Your Answer : (Not Answered)
Correct Answer : C
The POCSO Act was introduced in 2012. The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 is the Indian law that defines offences against children and sets up special courts and child-friendly procedures for trying them. It was passed in 2012 and came into force on 14 November 2012.
2010, 2011 and 2013 are not the year of the Act. The date matters for teachers because the Act places duties on schools to report such offences, so the year is part of the professional knowledge the paper tests.

The countries with the lowest and worst economic conditions in the world which are referred as the 'Pole of hunger' are
Your Answer : (Not Answered)
Correct Answer : A
The countries with the lowest incomes and worst food security - those of sub-Saharan Africa - are described as the world's pole of hunger.
Drought, poor soils, weak infrastructure and conflict combine there to give the highest rates of undernourishment anywhere, so it is the extreme point on any map of hunger.

Because they produce perfectly homogeneous solutions.
Ultrasound sets up rapid pressure oscillations that create and collapse microscopic bubbles - cavitation - and the resulting microjets mix the liquid down to a very fine scale, far more thoroughly than mechanical stirring.

Correct Answer : B
Several processors sharing access to common memory modules form a shared memory multiprocessor.
Every processor sees one address space, which makes programming straightforward, but contention for the memory limits how many processors can usefully be added.
Your Answer : (Not Answered)
Correct Answer : A
An interpreter translates a program line by line.
It reads, translates and executes each statement in turn, so an error is reported when that line is reached. A compiler translates the whole program first and reports every error before anything runs.

Rocks from which a metal can be profitably extracted are called ores.
Every ore is a mineral, but not every mineral is an ore: the term implies that the metal is present in enough concentration to be worth extracting. Bauxite is an ore of aluminium and haematite an ore of iron.

Correct Answer : B
CFCs were used in refrigerators and air conditioners as the working refrigerant, and also as aerosol propellants and foam-blowing agents.
They are being phased out under the Montreal Protocol because chlorine released from them in the stratosphere destroys ozone - one chlorine atom can break down thousands of ozone molecules.

Correct Answer : A
Day and night are equal all year only at the equator. The circle of illumination cuts every latitude in half only there, so the equator always has twelve hours of daylight and twelve of darkness.
Everywhere else the two are equal on just two days a year, the equinoxes; at the poles the year is one long day and one long night.
Deep oceanic trenches are formed at plate boundaries where
Your Answer : (Not Answered)
Correct Answer : A
Correct answer: One plate is forced beneath another
Trenches form at subduction zones, where a dense oceanic plate is driven down beneath a neighbouring plate. The descending slab bends sharply as it goes, and that flexure creates the long, narrow depression on the seafloor. Everything characteristic of these margins follows from the same descent: the deepest points in the oceans, the largest earthquakes, and a volcanic arc on the overriding plate, formed because water carried down with the slab lowers the melting point of the mantle above it. Earthquakes grow deeper with distance inland, tracing the slab down to hundreds of kilometres. The Mariana Trench is the deepest such feature and the Peru–Chile Trench the longest. Plates moving apart produce mid-ocean ridges instead, sliding past each other produces transform faults, and two continental plates colliding produces mountains such as the Himalaya, because neither is dense enough to subduct.

Your Answer : (Not Answered)
Correct Answer : D
The directive principles aim at establishing social and economic democracy.
Political democracy - one person one vote - was secured by the fundamental rights and the electoral system. Ambedkar warned that it would be a contradiction so long as social and economic inequality persisted, and the directive principles are the programme for removing it.

Your Answer : (Not Answered)
Correct Answer : C
India's highest annual rainfall is at Mawsynram in Meghalaya.
It receives about 11,870 mm a year. Moist air from the Bay of Bengal is funnelled up the Khasi hills and forced to rise abruptly, and the funnel shape of the valley concentrates the effect. Nearby Cherrapunji holds the records for rainfall in a single month and year.
