Read the given passage and answer the questions that follow.

This is a story about an ancient city called Troy when it was at war with the Greeks. The Greeks had surrounded the city of Troy but
could not break through the huge wall that protected Troy. There were strong gates in the wall which were kept locked in times of
war. Soldiers guarding the city would shoot arrows at the enemies through holes in the wall.

The Trojan war continued for ten long years. The Greeks tried hard to break in through the walls but could not succeed. The Trojans
also found it impossible to drive the Greeks away who were determined to enter the city and would not withdraw their forces. Then
one day, the Greek general Odysseus made a clever plan. The Greeks would pretend to back out and sail away and, as was the
custom then, leave behind a horse as a gift for the people of Troy. This would convey that the Greeks wanted peace and thus, the war
would come to an end. The horse would be a marvellous piece of Greek art. So, Odysseus ordered a giant wooden horse to be built.
However, he gave instructions that the horse should be hollow from inside. His plan was to hide thirty strong men from his army
inside the huge horse.

When the horse was ready, the Greeks pretended to sail back and left the wooden horse outside the city of Troy. The Trojans
believed that the Greeks were finally sailing back and rejoiced. They were completely deceived by the cunning plan of Odysseus.
They opened the city gates and joyously dragged the wooden horse inside the city. At night, they made merry and celebrated their
victory. When they fell asleep drunk and exhausted from the celebrations, the Greek soldiers hidden inside the horse sneaked out.
They sent signals to their army to sail back and threw open the gates of the city of Troy. The Greek soldiers entered the city and
killed the Trojan soldiers, who were caught unawares. The city of Troy was destroyed and the war ended with victory for the Greeks.

उसके शहर में घुसने के दृढसंकल्पी यूनानियों को भगाना असंभव हो गया था और वे अपनी सेना को वापस नहीं ले जा रहे थे।

फिर एक दिन, यूनानी सेनापति ओडिसीयस ने एक चतुराई भरी योजना बनाई। यूनानी लोग पीछे हटने और दू र जाने का नाटक करने वाले थे और
जैसा कि उस समय की नीति थी, ट्रॉय के लोगों के लिए उपहार के रूप में एक घोड़ा छोड़कर जाना होता था। इससे यह सन्देश जायेगा कि यूनानी
शांति चाहते हैं और इस प्रकार युद्ध समाप्त माना जाएगा। घोड़ा, यूनानी कला का एक अद्भुत नमूना होता था। अतः ओडिसीयस ने एक विशाल

A river is a stream of water that flows through a channel in the surface of the ground. The passage where the river flows is
called the river bed and the earth on each side is called a river bank. A river begins on high ground or in hills or mountains
and flows down from the high ground to the lower ground and it happens because of gravity. A river begins as a small
stream and gets bigger the farther it flows. The start of a river is called the source or head water. The part of the river that is
near the source is called a young river. A young river is often in a V shaped river bed and flows quickly downhill over stones
and around big rocks. Young rivers often have lots of small waterfalls and rapids. As the rivers travel downhill they begin to
erode the ground taking small bits of soft rock and soil. The source of a river may be a spring often on a hill and mountain or
glacier or another high place. A spring is water that flows out from under the ground. The source of a river may be a lake
where lots of water from small streams gathers when it rains or snows. A river may begin in mountains where there is snow.
The melting snow runs together to form a small stream that runs down the mountain. As more little streams run in the main
stream gets bigger until it forms a river. Some rivers flow from hills where there is no snow but lots of rain. Some rivers only
flow after there has been rain near the head water. The middle part of a river is called a mature river. A mature river makes
a riverbed that is U shaped. It might be very deep and run fast. It sweeps over small rocks and boulders and makes big turns
around hills and mountains. It is much wider than a young river but not as wide as an old river. To cross over a mature river
people use bridges. Many cities and towns are built on the banks of mature rivers. Many farms that keep animals such as
dairy cows and sheep are along mature rivers because the animals can drink from the river every day. A river usually ends
by flowing into an ocean or lake or a bigger river. The place where the river flows out into a bigger body of water is called
the mouth of the river. As a river flows towards its mouth the countryside around the river often changes from hilly to flat.
As it flows over the flat land the river becomes wider and slower. A wide slow river is called an old river. An old river often
floods across the land after there is lots of rain at the headwaters. An old river slowly builds up its banks on either side the
high banks are called levees. An old river often meander twists and turns and after a flood it leaves lakes behind which are
called oxbows or billabongs. Old rivers are the most useful type of river for growing crops. Corn and rice and fruit and
cotton and sugar are some of the crops that are grown near old rivers.

यह विदित है कि हर दिन और तिथि और समय का अपना कोई न कोई अहमियत जरुर होती है। यह भी विदित है कि विशेष रूप से
हमारे देश की हर तिथि और समय और दिन का संबंध लगभग किसी न किसी जरुरी विषय से जुडा हुआ है। यही कारण है कि हमारे
देश मे समय समय पर होने वाले आयोजन और प्रोग्राम किसी महान पुरुष के जीवन या किसी पौराणिक कथा व्रतांत या किसी
ऐतिहासिक घटनाओ से जरुर ही संबंधित होते है। हम नवंबर में बाल दिवस नेहरू जयंती के रूप में मनाते है। बाल दिवस बालकों के
दिन के रूप मे मनाया जाता है। हमारे देश में चौदह नवंबर को हर साल बाल दिवस के रूप मनाया जाता है। इस दिन को बाल दिवस के
रूप में मनाने का विशेष कारण यही है कि हमारे देश के सबसे पहले प्रधानमंत्री पंडित जवाहरलाल नेहरू को बाल अतिशय प्रिय लगते
थे और बाल भी उनको बडे प्रेम से चाचा नेहरू कहा करते थे। उन के अपार प्रेम और लगाव का ही यह सुपरिणाम हुआ कि सभी बाल
उनके जनम दिन बाल दिवस के रूप में मनाने लगे। पंडित जवाहरलाल नेहरू ने भी अपने जनम दिन को बालकों के असीम लगाव को
अपने प्रति देखकर बाल दिवस के रूप में अपना लिया था। यूं तो आज भी बाल दिवस नवंबर को हर साल खूब धूमधाम से शिक्षालयों
आदि में मनाया जाता है। तथापि सबसे पहले प्रधानमंत्री पंडित जवाहरलाल नेहरू के समय बनाये गए बाल दिवस की बात कु छ और ही
थी। वह बाल दिवस सचमुच में हर प्रकार से अनूठा बाल दिवस हुआ करता था। उस समय बाल दिवस के शुभ अवसर पर आयोजित होने
वाले सभी प्रोग्रामों में पंडित नेहरू खुद ही भाग लिया करते थे। उनके लिए विशेष प्रकार की योजनाएं सरकार लागू किया करती थी। वे
बाल दिवस के दिन अपने सभी प्रोग्रामों को रद करके खुद को बाल दिवस के आयोजित प्रोग्रामों में लगा देते थे। उनको इस प्रकार अपने
साथ पाकर बालक इस बाल दिवस को अपने जनम दिवस से कही अधिक समझकर खुशी से बाग बाग हो जाते थे। चाचा नेहरू भी
बालकों को इस प्रकार खुशी से झूमते हुए देखकर फु ले नही समाते थे। देखने वाले तो उस पल को देख देखकर खुशी से निहाल हो उठते
थे। असल में उस समय मनाया जाने वाले बाल दिवस हर प्रकार से अनूठा और बेहद रोचक लगता था। बाल दिवस का दिन हमारे देश में
सब जगह बडी धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है। इस दिन सारा देश खुशी की हिलोरे लेने लगता है। सबसे अधिक बालकों में ही खुशी का
माहौल दिखाई देता है। बालकों की खुशी को देख कर जवान और बूढे भी बाल दिवस को और अधिक रोचक बनाने के लिए अपना पूरा
पूरा योगदान दिया करते हैं। इसके लिए वे उनकी हर एक मांग को पूरी करने की कोशिश करते है। बालक भी अपने माता पिता और
हितेषियों और अभिवावकों की हर शिक्षा आदेश का बडे ही आदर से पालन किया करते हैं। इससे वे बाल दिवस का पूरा पूरा आनंद
उठाकर अधिक संतोष का अनुभव महशूस करते हैं। यूं तो बाल दिवस साल में एक बार ही आता है। लेकिन यह हर साल अपना अलग
ही अनुभव छोड जाता है। हर साल ऐसा लगता है मानो जैसे पहली बार मनाया जा रहा हो। बाल दिवस बालकों और सभी को बेहद प्रिय
है।
