It is winter. If you look up in the sky, you might be lucky to see wild geese flying in a V-shape formation heading south. They are migrating. These geese come from cold regions in the north and during winter
travel to south – to warmer regions. Many of them make India their home as the climate here in winter is warmer and pleasant.

Education in the twenty first century is rapidly evolving. What was once a tool to empower learners is now being empowered itself. From new pedagogies to improved practices the implementations in
education now are far from convention. Likewise the concept of homework today has completely changed from what it used to be but not necessarily for the better. The deliverance of home work
began in the early twentieth century when a teacher named Roberto Nevilis decided to give students material to study at home as a form of punishment. Since then the practice of issuing homework
has become widely popular around the globe. Teachers today use homework as a tool to encourage the students to learn and a method to overcome learning difficulties. But the question arises
whether we should be outrightly using a process which was intended as a form of punishment as a mode of learning or not. The truth is even as a form of punishment the results that homework
produced were outstanding. The reason behind its global popularity is that students who completed homework performed better. However homework today has evolved from the simple tasks of
practice and memorization to complex projects and self study. The concept of homework today does not align with the goals of the past nor does it align with purpose of education now. The need to
redefine certain concepts and aspects of homework has become apparent. Some modern pedagogical approaches utilise homework as a method to influence class learning while others use it to enable
students to explore new concepts. However to make homework a viable portion of education of a student it should be a method that reinforces educational or learning goals. As a part of an
independent learning process students should not have to try to figure out key components without the right guidance. Doing so will only increase the amount of time wasted. Children should not have
to spend their youth between attending classes and completing homework. Having a time restriction on homework prevents students from focusing and may result in a loss of interest. Additionally
children should not be compelled to complete homework in haste. Ideally they should be able to choose when they can complete their homework. Punishing children for not completing all of their
homework creates more of a problem for learning than it solves. Not all children live the same lives at home. Circumstances may not allow certain children to complete homework regularly and the
children cannot be blamed for that. Instead issuing homework that can be completed over a week or allowing children to complete as much as they can for fun can be more conducive to student
learning. Homework when connected to class material can encourage students to pay attention and participate in class while also reinforcing their learning. In certain cases children may have doubts
regarding their homework and they should be able to resolve them using the issued course material. It should not be too easy nor too complex. Children should feel empowered when they solve
problems. If the problems are too easy they will feel bored and if the work is too tough the children may lose their interest in the subject itself. Additionally homework should not cause children stress
as it can deter their overall learning and health.

बारिश का मौसम जुलाई से शुरू होता है और असल में बारिश ही वह मौसम है जिसका इंतजार लोग सबसे अधिक करते हैं। कु छ समय पहले तक भारतीय खेती को मानसून का जुआ कहा जाता था। भारतीय खेती
पूरी तरह से बारिश पर टिकी रहती थी तथा गरमी के मारे पशु पक्षी और यहां तक की इंसान भी बेहाल हो जाते थे। धरती गरम तवे जैसी हो जाती थी। ऐसे में सभी बेहद लालसा से बारिश का इंतजार करते थे। मुझे याद
है आषाढ माह के पंद्रह दिन ऐसे ही तपते तपते बीत चुके थे। गरमी अपनी चरम पर थी। सभी को बारिश का इंतजार था परं तु बादल मानो रूठ चुके थे। छोटे छोटे बालक कई बार टोली बनाकर जमीन पर लोट लोटकर
काले मेघा पानी दे पानी दे गुडधानी दे कहकर बादलों को बुला चुके थे पर सब बेकार साबित हो रहा था। दोपहर का समय था। अचानक बादलों के कु छ टुकडों ने पहले तो सूरज को ढंक लिया था। फिर वे पूरे आसमान
में छा गए। देखते ही देखते हवा में शीतलता का अहसास होने लगा। दिन में ही शाम होने का एहसास होने लगा। अचानक बिजली चमकी और बादलों ने अपने आने की सूचना मानो सभी को दी और आसमान से
शीतल बूंदे गिरने लगीं। ये बूंदें घनी और तेज होने लगी तथा बिचली चमकने लगी। हवा के एक दो तेज झोंके आए और बारिश शुरू हो गई। बारिश का वेग बढने के साथ साथ हमारे मन में खुशी बढती ही जा रही थी।
हम बालक कब रुकने वाले थे। हम नहाने के लिए घर से निकल आए। गरमी के मौसम ने हमें जितना तपाया था। वह सारी तपन हम बारिश में शीतल कर लेना चाहते थे। बारिश भी कितनी शीतल और सुखद लगती है
यह तो भीगने वालों से ही जाना जा सकता है। दो घंटे की लगातार बारिश में सब कु छ जलाशमय हो गया। खेत एवं बाग और गलियां एवं नीची जगह तालाब का रूप धारण कर चुकी थीं। लोगों के चेहरों पर छायी मायूसी
गायब हो चुकी थी। जंगल की ओर से मयूरों की प्रिय आवाजें भी आ रही थी। किसान खेत की ओर चल पडे। ऐसे में हम बालक कहां शांत बैठने वाले थे। हम भी कागज की नाव लिए तालाब की ओर चल पडे। हमें भी
बारिश का आनंद लेना था। बारिश से पूरी धरती लहलहा उठी है। मानों खुशी से नाच रही हो। यह सब देखना बहुत ही सुंदर सा प्रतीत होता है। किसी भी मौसम में अचानक बारिश से मानव ही नहीं अपितुकु दरत भी
आनंदित हो जाती है। उसका रोम रोम खिल उठता है। मानो वो इंद्र देव का शुक्रिया कर रही हो। जिस भी दिन बारिश होने वाली रहती है। पहले से ही कु दरत इशारे करने लगती है। आकाश में चारों ओर काले बादल
छाने लगते हैं। दिन में भी रात जैसी अनुभूति होने लगती है। पशु पक्षी भी अपनी खुशी को जाहिर करने लगते हैं। पेडो पर पक्षी जोर जोर से चहकने लगते हैं। मानो जैसे वो बारिश का तहेदिल से अभिनंदन कर रहे हों।
जब हवा चलती है और बारिश होती है तो हर दिल खुश हो जाता है। पिकनिक आयोजित करने के लिए हम गंगा घाटों पर जाते हैं। कु छ लोग कु दरत का नजारा देखने के लिए बाहर जाते हैं। लडकियां झूले का आनंद
लेने के लिए किसी बडे पेड के नीचे जमा होती हैं।
