AP High Court Examiner Syllabus, Exam Pattern, Eligibility
173 topics across 6 subjects. Every question carries a written explanation.
The High Court of Andhra Pradesh recruits Examiners for the district courts through one centralised exam. The post sits under the A.P. Judicial Ministerial and Subordinate Service Rules, 2019, and Intermediate is enough to apply.
The latest round is Notification No.5/2025-RC of 6 May 2025: 32 posts across eleven judicial districts, pay Rs 23,780–76,730. By June 2026 the court was on its third list of provisionally selected candidates and verifying documents. No newer Examiner notification has been posted.
The High Court's own establishment also advertised Examiners in 2021, alongside Assistants. That round is on the Assistant Examiner page.

Exam Pattern
| Part | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| General Knowledge | 40 | 40 |
| General English | 40 | 40 |
| Total | 80 | 80 |
It's a 90 minute computer based test with multiple choice questions. The GK paper is in English and Telugu, and the English version is final if the two differ. Qualifying marks are 40% for OC and EWS, 35% for BC and 30% for SC, ST and persons with disabilities. Scores from different shifts are normalised.
Syllabus
General Knowledge: Indian art, culture, dance and music; Indian history and the national movement; geography; agriculture and environment; economy; polity and Constitution; scientific research; awards; personalities and institutions; sports; current affairs of India and Andhra Pradesh.
General English: a comprehension passage with five questions, one word substitution, synonyms and antonyms, spelling error, spotting the error, grammar (noun, pronoun, adjective, verb, preposition, conjunction), a/an/the, idioms and phrases.
Eligibility Criteria
- Qualification: Intermediate from the State Board of Intermediate Education, or an equivalent exam.
- Age: 18 to 42 on 1 July 2025. Five extra years for SC, ST, BC and EWS, ten for persons with benchmark disabilities, and the usual rule for ex-servicemen. Serving contract, outsourcing and daily-wage staff of the courts are also relaxed, if they were within the age limit when first engaged.
- Language: working knowledge of a language of the district you pick. It is Telugu almost everywhere, Telugu and Kannada in Ananthapuram, Telugu and Tamil in Chittoor, and Telugu and Oriya in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram.
- Local status: each judicial district is a separate cadre. 80% of its posts go to locals and 20% are open to all. Local status is proved with study certificates for classes 7 to 10, or a Tahsildar's residence certificate.
Selection Process
The merit list rests on the computer based test alone. There is no interview and no skill test for this post. If marks tie, the older candidate wins, then the one with the higher qualification, then the one with more marks in the prescribed qualification.
Court staff on contract, outsourcing or daily wages get one mark for every six months served, up to 20 marks. Provisionally selected candidates take their original certificates for verification, and a missing one means rejection.
Salary
The 2025 notification gives Rs 23,780–76,730 for Examiner.
How to Apply
Application was online only, on the High Court site and the district court sites, from 13 May to 2 June 2025. The fee was Rs 800 for OC, EWS and BC and Rs 400 for SC, ST and persons with benchmark disabilities of an A.P. recognised community. You pay once for each post and district, and it isn't refunded. OBC certificates were not accepted, BC claims needed a non-creamy-layer certificate, and EWS needed a Tahsildar certificate showing income under Rs 8 lakh.

Result
There's no single result sheet. The court posts provisional selection lists district by district: 31 December 2025, 8 April 2026 and 25 June 2026 for Examiner. Meritorious sportspersons were listed separately on 9 April 2026.
Cut Off
No cut-off table has been published for this cycle. Only the minimum qualifying marks above are fixed, and the final cut-off in a district depends on its vacancies and categories.
Preparation Tips
Half the paper is English, so do grammar and error-spotting daily. For GK, put time into Andhra Pradesh current affairs, polity and the national movement. With 80 questions in 90 minutes and selection on CBT marks alone, a few marks decide a district.
