Bihar Nursing Tutor Syllabus, Exam Pattern, Eligibility

146 topics across 4 subjects. Every question carries a written explanation.

Bihar Nursing Tutor is the recruitment to Tutor (Nursing) in the Health Department of the Government of Bihar, run by the Bihar Technical Service Commission (BTSC), 19 Harding Road, Patna. The latest is Advertisement No. 24/2025, which took online applications from 4 July to 1 August 2025 for 498 posts.

It's a teaching post in the state's nursing training institutions, at Pay Level 8 with a grade pay of ₹4,800. That's well above the Commission's paramedical posts: Laboratory Technician, X-Ray Technician, Operation Theatre Assistant and Pharmacist are Level 5, and Dresser is Level 2.

Two conditions are before the High Court

Under the Bihar Nursing Teaching Cadre Rules, 2024, anyone who trained outside Bihar needs Indian Nursing Council suitability and Bihar Nurses Registration Council registration. After an interim order of 16 May 2025 in Writ Petition No. 7821/2025 and Health Department advice of 13 June 2025, BTSC accepted applications from candidates who don't yet meet them, subject to the final judgment.

The count may change if the requisition is revised.

Exam Centres

The test runs in more than one shift. Centres and shifts are given with the admit card on btsc.bihar.gov.in; the advertisement fixes no centres in advance. Your posting later is decided by the Health Department and has nothing to do with where you sat the test.

Important Dates

BTSC has no annual calendar; it advertises when a requisition arrives. Advertisement No. 24/2025:

StageDate
Online registration opens4 July 2025
Online registration closes1 August 2025
Work experience counted up to4 July 2025
Age reckoned on1 August 2025
Objection window opened8 September 2026, Notice No. 2918
ResultNot declared as at 12 September 2026

The other posts in the 2025 health batch opened on 4 and 11 March 2025 (Staff Nurse in April) and all had results by August 2026.

Admit Card

Download it under Admit Card / Call Letter on btsc.bihar.gov.in. No date is fixed in the advertisement. It also tells you your shift.

Scores appear later under Score Card, and objections to the answer key or result go through the Objection Portal within the announced window. For Advertisement No. 24/2025 that window opened on 8 September 2026.

Result

Results are posted advertisement by advertisement under Result on the BTSC site, with scores under Score Card. For Advertisement No. 24/2025 the result was not out as at 12 September 2026.

BTSC results list, category by category, the vacancies, the 35 per cent women's share, the number selected and the cut-off out of 100, plus anything carried forward. Ties have gone to the older candidate. In the paramedical posts of the same batch most posts went unfilled and the disability and women's quotas were almost all carried forward.

Cut Off

The advertisement prints minimum qualifying percentages for the written test (see Selection Process): 40% General, 36.5% BC, 34% EBC, and 32% for SC, ST, all women and persons with disabilities. These are Bihar-wide rules, not specific to this post.

No closing cut-off has been published yet, since the result was not out as at 12 September 2026. When it is, it will appear with the result on the BTSC Result page, as a mark out of 100 after normalisation, the 0.75 multiplier and experience marks.

Preparation Tips
  1. Prepare clinical nursing, not pedagogy. The five heads are Nursing Foundations, Medical Surgical Nursing, Midwifery and Gynaecology, Child Health and Mental Health. Teaching methodology isn't on the paper.
  2. Revise at B.Sc level. M.Sc holders are examined on undergraduate ground, so breadth across the five heads beats postgraduate depth.
  3. Work out whether you can earn experience marks. Only contract Tutors in Bihar nursing institutions get them. If you're a hospital nurse, you're competing on 75 marks, not 100.
  4. Attempt every question you can narrow down. There's no sectional timing and the penalty is a quarter mark.
  5. If you trained outside Bihar, watch the Important Notices for the outcome of the writ petition.
  6. No past papers exist, so use the Tutor (Nursing) syllabus topic by topic as your checklist.
Sample Papers

BTSC publishes no previous papers or model paper for Tutor (Nursing). Anything sold as a "BTSC Nursing Tutor previous year paper" didn't come from the Commission.

The official documents are the Tutor (Nursing) syllabus (not the Staff Nurse one) and Advertisement No. 24/2025, both on btsc.bihar.gov.in.
