Exam Pattern
Three stages, in this order.
- Preliminary: 100 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours, general knowledge and current affairs. Below 30 percent fails. About 20 times the vacancies move on.

- PET: pass or fail. Men run 1 mile in 6 min 30 s, women 1 km in 6 minutes. After that: high jump (4 ft men, 3 ft women), long jump (12 ft men, 9 ft women) and shot put (16 lb over 16 ft for men, 12 lb over 10 ft for women). Three tries at the jumps and shot.
Every wrong answer costs 0.2 marks in both written stages.

Result
BPSSC posted the prelim result on 16 March 2026 and the Mains result for 27 May. Since the Mains has been cancelled, check the site before treating either as final.
Cut Off
The advertisement fixes qualifying minimums rather than cut-offs for each rank: 40 percent for the unreserved, 36.5 for BC, 34 for EBC and 32 for SC, ST and women, on Mains marks. Cut-offs for the cycle have not been published beyond the result sheets.
Preparation Tips
The paper is graduate-level general studies. Cover Bihar and India history and geography, polity, science, maths and reasoning, and keep up with current affairs. Hindi paper 1 is a pass-or-fail hurdle, so do not ignore it. Fitness prep for the 1 mile run matters as much, since a candidate who fails the PET is out whatever the written marks.
