Data Entry Operators in the Bihar Vidhan Parishad Secretariat are hired by the Secretariat itself. The latest advertisement is Advt. No. 02/2025, which carries 35 DEO posts at pay level 4 (₹25,500–81,100), next to 7 Personal Assistants, 12 Stenographers and 10 Lower Division Clerks (level 2). Applications ran from 28 November to 19 December 2025.
The DEO post is in the Computer Cell, with one post reserved each for blind, deaf and orthopaedically disabled candidates.

Bihar Vidhan Parishad DEO Details
Exam Pattern
The OMR preliminary is the same paper as the other posts: 100 questions, 400 marks, 2 hours, general studies 40, science and maths 30, mental ability 30, minus 1 for each wrong answer.
Candidates who clear it sit a computer typing test of 50 marks in Hindi and 50 in English, at 8,000 key depressions an hour for ten minutes each, and a 100-mark MS Office word processing test. Failing the word processing test rules you out.
Eligibility Criteria
- Qualification: Intermediate from a recognised board, typing speed of 8,000 key depressions an hour in Hindi and in English, and a computer certificate such as ADCA, or an AICTE, DOEACC or NIELIT recognised course, or O level.
- Age on 1 August 2025: at least 18; maximum 37 for unreserved men, 40 for unreserved women, BC and EBC, 42 for SC and ST. Five years extra for serving Bihar government employees.
Selection Process
Prelim, then typing and word processing, then document checks. About ten times the vacancies clear the prelim. Merit comes from the Hindi and English typing and word processing marks. The prelim cut-offs are 40 percent unreserved, 36.5 BC, 34 EBC and 32 for SC, ST, women and PwD.

Pay level 4, ₹25,500–81,100 plus allowances.

Preparation Tips
Typing accuracy is what counts. Practise both scripts at the stated speed and a basic Word, Excel and PowerPoint routine. The prelim syllabus is short: Bihar and India general knowledge, simple arithmetic and reasoning.
