The Bihar Vidhan Sabha Secretariat has not advertised a post called plain Assistant in its latest rounds. What it did advertise at assistant grade is Advertisement 05/2024, issued in November 2024, for four Level 7 posts: Library Assistant, Urdu Translator, Urdu Assistant and Translator (English/Hindi). There were seven posts in all.

Bihar Vidhan Sabha Assistant Details
Exam Pattern
An OMR preliminary exam, then a descriptive main exam. The prelim is the same for every post: 100 questions, 400 marks, two hours, 4 marks for each right answer and 1 mark off for each wrong one.

Minimum marks in the prelim: 40 per cent unreserved, 36.5 per cent BC, 34 per cent EBC, 32 per cent for SC, ST, women and candidates with disability. The main exam is descriptive; instructions for it were issued on 26 August 2025.

Age on 01.08.2024: 21 minimum; maximum 37 for unreserved men, 40 for unreserved women, BC and EBC, 42 for SC and ST. Usual relaxations apply for government servants, ex-servicemen and disability. Reservation is for Bihar domicile holders only.
Selection Process
Prelim, then main. Results are made post by post, category by category, from the main exam marks. The advertisement notes that appointments in this round depend on a Supreme Court case on reservation (the state filed an SLP against a court order of 20 June 2024).
Salary
Level 7 for all four posts, Rs 44,900 to 1,42,400 a month plus allowances.
How to Apply
Online only, on the Secretariat portal. A candidate who meets more than one qualification could apply for several posts by ticking the boxes in a single form and paying one fee. Fee amounts are in the advertisement.

The notice does not state the total for the main exam. No cut-off is listed for Urdu Translator.
Preparation Tips
Start with the language subject that earns you the post, since the main exam is descriptive and the language papers separate candidates. For the prelim, Class 10 science and arithmetic plus Bihar general knowledge cover most of it.
