CISF Driver Syllabus, Exam Pattern, Eligibility

127 topics across 4 subjects. Every question carries a written explanation.

CISF runs two constable driver entries. They look almost identical on paper and they lead to different careers.

Constable / DriverConstable / DCPO
What the post isA transport driver for the ForceDriver-cum-Pump-Operator, a fire appliance driver who also works the pump
Which wingGeneralFire Wing
Age21 to 2721 to 27
EducationMatriculationMatriculation
LicenceHMV and LMV and motorcycle with gear HMV or transport vehicle, and LMV, and motorcycle with gear
Experience3 years3 years
Height167 cm male, 157 cm female167 cm, no female standard listed
Chest80 to 85 cm male; not applicable to women80 to 85 cm
Promotes toHead Constable in the general cadreHead Constable (Driver-cum-Pump-Operator) in the Fire Wing

Driver lists a female height standard and DCPO does not, so on the face of CISF's own page the Driver entry is open to women and the DCPO entry is not. DCPO is also a firefighting post: the Fire Wing Recruitment Rules place Head Constable (Driver-cum-Pump-Operator) among the wing's eight subordinate ranks, filled by promotion from Constable (DCPO) after five years.

The licence is the real barrier. Three classes at once, three years of driving behind them, and an HMV licence is itself issued only after time on a lighter transport class. That is why the age band starts at 21 when every other CISF constable trade starts at 18. The height bar runs the other way: 167 cm is the lowest in the constable cadre, three centimetres under the 170 cm set for General Duty, Fire, Tradesmen and the nursing entries.

Both entries are conducted by CISF itself through cisfrectt.cisf.gov.in, not by the Staff Selection Commission, so a candidate watching only the Commission's calendar never sees the advertisement. CISF also puts the physical stages before the written exam, the reverse of the Commission-conducted Constable (GD) exam. And there is no border posting: CISF guards installations, from refineries and power plants to the major airports and the Parliament House complex.

CISF Driver Details

Exam Pattern

CISF conducts both driver entries itself. It publishes the stage order, but not the paper.

What CISF states

FeaturePosition
Conducting agencyCISF itself
ModeOMR or CBT, named explicitly for this post
LanguageBilingual, Hindi and English
TypeObjective, multiple choice
Negative markingNone in CISF's own written examinations
NormalisationApplied where the paper runs in two or more shifts
Answer keyA tentative key with a short online objection window
Position in the sequenceThird, after the driving test
Marks, duration and section splitNot published

The driving test comes before the paper

CISF's order for both driver entries is height bar test; then PET, PST, documentation and the driving test together; then the written exam; then the medical; then the final merit list. A candidate who cannot pass the driving never sits the paper, so study time spent while the driving is rusty goes on the third gate while the second one fails.

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police orders the same post the other way round, with its Constable (Driver) trade test after the written test at stage six of eight. Same trade, opposite sequence, opposite preparation order.

What the paper probably contains

CISF publishes no section split for this post. For its paramedical posts it says the paper is set "to test their knowledge in their respective trades", and eligibility here is matriculation plus a commercial licence. A matriculation level paper with a heavy motor vehicle and traffic component is the reasonable expectation: general awareness, elementary mathematics, reasoning, language, and driving and vehicle knowledge. That is an inference from the eligibility and from CISF's practice at other posts, not a published pattern. ITBP, which does publish a split for Constable (Driver), weights its paper 60 marks of trade theory against 40 of general sections, and assuming a similar emphasis beats assuming none.

The notification for the cycle is the only document that states the marks, the duration and the sections.

What you can rely on

  • Mark every question. With no negative marking a blank is a certain zero and a guess is one chance in four.
  • The paper is the whole merit list. Every other stage, driving test included, is pass or fail, and the quality of your driving adds no mark.
  • One objection window, no re-evaluation. The tentative answer key is the only chance to challenge anything, it is online only, and the experts' decision on it is final.
Syllabus

CISF publishes no topic list for the driver written exam. The list below is built from the eligibility, matriculation plus a heavy and light vehicle licence with three years of driving, and from what a driver in an armed force has to know. Treat it as a working syllabus; the notification for the cycle is the authority. It is all learnable from the Motor Vehicles Act and Rules, the state transport department's licence handbook, and the NCVT trade theory papers for Mechanic Motor Vehicle and Driver-cum-Mechanic.

Motor vehicle and traffic knowledge

AreaWhat to prepare
Signs and signalsMandatory signs, circular; cautionary, triangular; informatory, rectangular; road markings; hand signals; light sequences. Finite, and the cheapest marks in the paper
Rules of the roadRight of way; overtaking; lane discipline; speed limits by vehicle class; parking; night driving; horn and lights
Motor Vehicles ActLicence classes and what each authorises; private against transport licence; registration certificate, fitness certificate, permit, insurance and PUC, which are vehicle documents and which are driver documents, and when each expires; offences and penalties; duties after an accident
EngineFour stroke cycle; petrol against diesel; compression against spark ignition; cylinder head, piston, connecting rod, crankshaft, camshaft, valves; firing order
Fuel, cooling, lubricationFuel pump, filter, injector, injection pump, carburettor, air cleaner, turbocharger; what black, blue and white smoke mean; radiator, water pump, thermostat, fan belt, coolant, overheating; oil grades, pump, filter, pressure warning
TransmissionClutch types and slip; gearbox and gear ratios; propeller shaft and universal joints; differential; axles
Brakes, steering, suspensionDrum and disc; hydraulic and air brake systems, the latter being what a heavy vehicle uses; handbrake; fade and bleeding; steering box and linkage; camber, castor, toe-in; springs and shock absorbers
Electrical and tyresBattery, charging, alternator, starter, ignition, lighting, fuses; why a vehicle fails to start. Tyre markings, tube and tubeless, pressure, wear patterns, changing a wheel on a loaded vehicle
Maintenance and safetyPre-start checks, daily inspection, servicing intervals, tool kit, log book, documents in the cab; extinguisher classes; first aid at a road accident; towing; load securing; carriage of fuel and hazardous stores

Extra ground for a Driver-cum-Pump-Operator

Centrifugal fire pump construction and operation, priming, suction lift, delivery pressure, relief valve, cavitation. Hydrants, static water sources, open water pickup, relay pumping, friction loss in a hose line. Hose, couplings, branches and nozzles, standpipe, collecting head, breeching, ladders, foam induction. Classes of fire and the right medium for each. And the wing itself: the only full-fledged fire service in any Central Armed Police Force, 115 installations, 9,306 personnel, with the Fire Service Training Institute on the NISA campus at Hyderabad.

General awareness, mathematics, reasoning and language

Matriculation level throughout. History in outline and the freedom movement; geography, polity, economy and major schemes, school science; current affairs of roughly the last year with defence and internal security weighted. CISF's own facts are fair game: raised in 1969 out of a Commission of Inquiry into the 1964 fire at Heavy Engineering Corporation, Ranchi, motto Protection and Security, ethos Abhedya Suraksha.

Then number system, percentage, ratio, average, profit and loss, simple interest, time and work, mensuration, and time, speed and distance, which here is the arithmetic of the job. Series, analogy, coding, blood relations, direction sense, non-verbal figures. Grammar, vocabulary, error-spotting and comprehension in English; sandhi, samas, muhavare and vakya shuddhi in Hindi.

Eligibility Criteria

Everything below is from CISF's own recruitment page, which carried a "Last updated: 12/09/2026" stamp when it was read. Where the two driver entries differ, both are given.

Age is 21 to 27 for both entries, with relaxation as per government orders. Education is matriculation, and no higher qualification is required or given weight.

Licence and experience

Constable / DriverConstable / DCPO
Valid driving licence forHeavy Motor Vehicle Heavy Motor Vehicle OR transport vehicle
Light Motor VehicleLight Motor Vehicle
Motorcycle with gearMotorcycle with gear
Experience3 years of driving a heavy motor vehicle, or light motor vehicles and a motorcycle3 years of driving a heavy motor vehicle or transport vehicle, or light motor vehicles and a motorcycle

Three classes, valid and held at the same time. ITBP, for comparison, asks its Constable (Driver) candidates for a single transport licence with two years of experience.

Physical standards

HeightChest
Constable / Driver, male167 cm80 to 85 cm
Constable / Driver, female157 cmNot applicable
Constable / DCPO167 cm80 to 85 cm

Relaxation applies for certain categories under the Recruitment Rules, and for chest under the MHA Common Scheme. DCPO carries no female standard at all: CISF's page gives one height and one chest for that post with no male or female label. A woman candidate should check the advertisement for the cycle, particularly as CISF is adding female standards elsewhere in the Fire Wing.

Physical efficiency test

EventStandard
800 m race3 minutes 15 seconds
Long jump11 feet, three chances
High jump3 feet 6 inches, three chances

Constable (Fire) runs 5 km in 24 minutes and Constable (Tradesmen) 1.6 km in 6 minutes 30 seconds; the driver standard matches the tradesman pace over half the distance and adds two jumps. It is the least demanding run CISF sets, it is qualifying, and no mark from it enters any merit list.

Medical

Under the MHA's uniform guidelines for the Central Armed Police Forces. No knock knees, flat foot, varicose vein or squint. Colour vision is the standard most likely to end a driver's attempt, since signals, warning lamps and hazard placards are colour-coded, and the uncorrected distance standard for direct entry other ranks does not permit correction. Weight proportionate to height and age. Tattoos only as a religious symbol or figure or a name, on the inner aspect of the left forearm or the back of the hand, smaller than a quarter of that part of the body. Fit or unfit, with no temporary category; a review medical needs written consent within 24 hours.

Other conditions

Indian citizenship, plus character and antecedents verification, which for a driver reaches the driving record: a licence endorsement for a serious traffic offence becomes a live issue at documentation. A bigamous marriage disqualifies, subject to the central government exemption where personal law permits, and so does dismissal from government service. Both posts are All India basis.

Selection Process

CISF conducts both driver entries itself, with the same six stages for each.

#StageNature
1Height Bar TestScreening, pass or fail
2PET, PST, Documentation and the Driving test Qualifying, pass or fail
3Written Examination, OMR or CBTScored. The only stage producing marks
4Medical Examination, DME then RME if neededFit or unfit
5Final Merit list
6Issue of offer of appointment

Four filters in one appearance

In one visit a candidate has to pass the physical efficiency test, be measured for the physical standards, produce every original document, and drive. Any one of the four ends the candidature that day, and there is no second visit in which to make good a missing paper.

Documentation wants originals: the educational certificate, the matriculation certificate as proof of date of birth, the driving licence and the evidence of three years of driving, and the category certificate in CISF's own Appendix format. A certificate in another format is refused, and a candidate who cannot produce an original is eliminated on the spot with a rejection slip. The same goes for the height bar that opens the day: a candidate entitled to a category relaxation who turns up without the certificate is measured against the ordinary standard.

What the driving test involves

CISF publishes neither the content nor a marking scheme. A practical driving assessment at a Central Armed Police Force recruitment runs before a board and covers moving off, a hill start, reversing and parking in a confined bay, a manoeuvring course, gear and clutch control, and questions on the controls and the daily maintenance checks, normally on the heaviest class the licence covers. Treat it as pass or fail, practise on a heavy vehicle and not a car, and expect to be asked what a warning lamp means and where the fuse box is.

The written exam, then the medical

The written exam is the only stage that produces marks, so it is the whole merit list: an exceptional driver and a barely adequate one who both clear stage two are ranked purely on the paper. The medical that follows is fit or unfit, and a review medical needs written consent within 24 hours.

After selection, for a DCPO

Promotion to Head Constable (Driver-cum-Pump-Operator) needs five years of regular service in the grade at Pay Level 3, medical category SHAPE-1, and success in the promotion cadre course. The wing's draft revised rules add one thing to know before joining: seniority for direct recruits is set by adding the recruitment test marks and the basic training marks in a 50:50 ratio.

There is no interview, no marks from any stage but the paper, and no second appearance in which to fix a missing document or a failed event.

Salary

Constable (Driver) and Constable (Driver-cum-Pump-Operator) are both Pay Level 3 in the 7th Central Pay Commission matrix, ₹21,700 to ₹69,100. So are Constable / General Duty, Constable / Fire and Constable / Tradesmen, which ask for matriculation or a 12th with science and no licence at all. Three years of building a commercial driving record gets you in on the same pay; what it buys is a far smaller field of competitors. Settle that before choosing this entry over General Duty.

The ladder above

RankPay LevelEntry pay
ConstableLevel 3₹21,700
Head Constable, including Head Constable (Driver-cum-Pump-Operator) Level 4₹25,500
Assistant Sub-InspectorLevel 5₹29,200
Sub-InspectorLevel 6₹35,400
InspectorLevel 7₹44,900
Assistant CommandantLevel 10₹56,100

On top of basic pay

CISF publishes no allowance schedule; the structure is the standard central government one. Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance or unit accommodation, Transport Allowance, Ration Money Allowance, Risk and Hardship Allowance at the notified rate, uniform and kit maintenance, canteen, medical cover, leave travel concession and group insurance. Pension is the National Pension System, which applies to everyone who joined central government service on or after 1 January 2004: 10 per cent of basic pay and dearness allowance from the employee, 14 per cent from the government.

Promotion

A Constable (Driver) takes the general path to Head Constable at Level 4 and onward on seniority and departmental examination, with MACP giving financial upgradation where a functional promotion has not come. A Constable (DCPO) takes the Fire Wing's path: five years at Level 3, medical category SHAPE-1, and the promotion cadre course. Inspector (Fire) above it has no direct recruitment at all, being filled 90 per cent by promotion and 10 per cent by absorption.

How to Apply

Who conducts a CISF recruitment decides where the application goes, and for CISF that is not one answer. For Constable (Driver) and Constable (Driver-cum-Pump-Operator) it is CISF itself.

Conducting agencyCISF ranks it fillsWhere you apply
UPSCAssistant Commandant / Executiveupsconline.gov.in, through the CAPF (AC) examination
SSCSI / Executive, SI / Fire, Constable / General Duty ssc.gov.in

Register once, apply many times

CISF calls the one-time registration "a permanent database for candidate" and reuses the ID and password for every examination it conducts. Nothing can be corrected after submission: "no change / correction / modification will be allowed under any circumstances."

The fee

₹100 from unreserved, EWS and OBC candidates. Exempt: every woman candidate whatever her category, and SC and ST candidates and ex-servicemen eligible for reservation. Pay by net banking, card, RuPay or UPI, or in cash at a State Bank of India branch against a challan generated on the portal. A challan generated before the closing date can be paid in cash for two days after the window shuts. No refunds, and no adjustment against another examination.

Where a notification covers several posts, CISF processes the "first application only, so received", which makes the choice of post irreversible. Two disqualifications are easy to miss: a bigamous marriage, subject to the central government exemption where personal law permits, and dismissal from government service.

Participating Institutes

CISF exists because of a fire. Its own account:

The Central Industrial Security Force came into existence in 1969 as the culmination of a Commission of Inquiry and legislation necessitated by the major fire incident of 1964 at HEC, Ranchi.

The inquiry produced the CISF Act and the Act produced the Force. Raised to protect central government industrial undertakings, later declared an Armed Force of the Union, it now holds airport security, VIP security, and security and fire consultancy as well. Motto Protection and Security, ethos Abhedya Suraksha.

A CISF posting is an industrial or aviation posting, usually near a city or a plant, which is the clearest difference between choosing CISF and choosing the Border Security Force, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police or the Sashastra Seema Bal. The Force guards petroleum and natural gas installations, port trusts, power plants, fertiliser and chemical industries, steel and mines, defence, science and technology, coal, currency presses, heritage monuments, the major airports and the Parliament House complex.

CISF is also the only Central Armed Police Force with a full-fledged Fire Service Wing, covering 115 installations with 9,306 personnel, which is why it recruits firemen and pump operators when no other force does.

FSTI, the Fire Service Training InstituteEstablished at Deoli, Rajasthan in 1987; moved to the NISA campus at Hakimpet in 1999

A selected candidate goes to one of these for basic training. In the Fire Wing, probation is two years and completing basic training is a prerequisite for completing it.

Exam Centres

CISF organises its own recruitments by recruitment sector, not by state, and your sector is fixed by where you live.

The written exam runs at a commercial test centre CISF allots, and a request to change the date or the centre "will not be considered under any circumstances". The physical, documentation and medical stages run at a CISF recruitment centre in your sector, which may be several hundred kilometres away, and CISF asks candidates to "come duly prepared for 2-3 days stay under their own arrangements" with no travelling or daily allowance.

Carry the admit card, four passport size colour photographs printed with the date they were taken and no more than three months old at the date of the notification, and an original photo identity document showing date of birth. For documentation, originals of the educational certificates, the matriculation certificate as proof of date of birth, and the category certificate in CISF's prescribed Appendix format. Caste certificates not in that format are refused, and a candidate who cannot produce an original is eliminated on the spot with a rejection slip.

Important Dates

No Constable (Driver) or Constable (DCPO) advertisement is live as at 12 September 2026. CISF publishes no annual recruitment calendar for the twelve ranks it conducts itself. A driver advertisement appears when the cadre needs filling, not on a season, and it appears at cisfrectt.cisf.gov.in and nowhere else. The Force's recruitment page carried a "Last updated: 12/09/2026" stamp when the standards above were read, and the most recent CISF-conducted cycle was Para Medical Staff, open 8 June to 7 July 2026.

The Fire Wing rules review affects DCPO candidates

CISF has published draft revised Recruitment Rules for the Fire Wing's Group B and Group C subordinate ranks, Head Constable (Driver-cum-Pump-Operator) among them, for the 30 day stakeholder comment DoPT requires. The existing rules are those notified by G.S.R. 79(E) of 8 February 2011. A review does not stop a recruitment, but expect the next Fire Wing advertisement to be written against a revised schedule.

What to do before an advertisement appears

  • Complete the one-time registration. It is a permanent database and the same credentials work for every future cycle.
  • Check every licence class and its validity. A lapsed class is a rejection at documentation and a renewal takes time.
  • Assemble the evidence of three years of driving. This is the requirement candidates most often cannot document, and an employer's certificate cannot be produced on the day.
  • Get the category certificate in CISF's Appendix format. A genuine certificate in the wrong format is refused.
  • Check your colour vision. An optician settles it in an afternoon; the detailed medical settles it a year into the process.
Admit Card

Every admit card for a CISF-conducted recruitment comes from cisfrectt.cisf.gov.in and nowhere else: "Admit Card for any stage of examination will not be sent by post."

You download several over a single recruitment, each released only to candidates who cleared the stage before it: the written exam, for everyone whose application was accepted; then the physical standards test, documentation and the driving test; then the medical. CISF adds that the order of those stages may be interchanged at its discretion, so do not assume the written exam always comes first. For the driver entries it does not.

If the card will not download, contact CISF at least one week before the stage, not on the day, on 011-24366431 or 011-24307933. Quote the registration number, the registered e-mail and mobile, your name, your date of birth and the name of the examination; a communication without these "shall not be entertained".

Mobile phones, calculators and any other electronic device are barred from the hall, and the rule is possession rather than use: "Possession of these items, whether in use or not, will be considered as 'Use of unfair means'", and the candidature is cancelled.

Result

Answer keys, stage results and select lists all appear at cisfrectt.cisf.gov.in.

After the written exam CISF posts a tentative answer key and invites online representations within a stated window. Objections sent by any other route are not entertained, a panel of experts scrutinises them before the key is finalised, and "the decision of the experts in this regard will be final". There is no re-evaluation, no re-checking and no re-conduct of the paper. Where the exam runs in two or more shifts the marks are normalised. For its paramedical recruitment CISF states that the number shortlisted after the written exam is about five times the vacancies notified.

Ties go to four criteria in fixed order: age, older preferred; then height, taller preferred; then educational qualification; then alphabetical order of the name in English. The first two are unusual, since most central recruitments break a tie on date of birth alone.

Merit is drawn category-wise, and a reserved-category candidate who makes the unreserved merit without using any relaxed standard counts against the unreserved vacancies. "No waiting list will be kept / maintained." The select list equals the vacancies notified.

Cut Off

CISF publishes no cut-off marks for the driver entries, or for anything it recruits itself. Its portal cisfrectt.cisf.gov.in carries only the answer key, stage results and select list. SSC publishes cut-offs for the three CISF ranks it fills, on ssc.gov.in, two to three months after each paper.

Preparation Tips

1. Confirm the licences before anything else

Three classes, all valid, plus three years of driving. None of it can be arranged inside an application window. If one class is missing or lapsed, that is the first job and the syllabus is the second.

2. Sharpen the driving, because it is gate two

The driving test sits in stage two with the PET, PST and documentation; the written exam is stage three. Drive the heaviest class your licence permits in the weeks before. Reversing into a confined bay, a controlled hill start and a manoeuvring course are the three things most likely to be set, and all three punish a driver who only ever goes forwards on open roads.

3. Do not borrow the sequence from another force

ITBP puts its driver trade test after the written test. SSC puts the CT/GD written exam first. CISF puts its own written exams third. Preparing for more than one recruitment means keeping the sequences apart, because they dictate opposite orders.

4. Everything has to be right on one morning

Four filters at a single appearance: the run and the jumps, the measurement, every original document, and the driving. Pack the folder the week before, and check the category certificate is in CISF's Appendix format and not the state's own.

5. Train the 800 m as a fast run

Three minutes fifteen seconds is a real pace, and the two jumps follow it with three chances each. Both are technique as much as power, and three chances is not many at a movement you have never rehearsed. Practise the approach and the take-off foot, not just the effort.

6. Put the study weight on the vehicle

CISF publishes no section split, but its practice at other trade posts is to set the paper on the candidate's own trade, and ITBP weights its driver paper 60 marks of trade theory against 40 of general sections. Prepare as though the vehicle content is the larger half. The road signs and document rules inside it are the cheapest marks on offer.

7. Mark every question

No negative marking. A blank is a certain zero, a guess is one chance in four, and the paper is the entire merit list. DCPO candidates should remember the pump is half the job and possibly half the paper.

8. Check your eyes early

Colour vision is the medical standard most likely to end a driver's candidature, and finding out at the detailed medical costs a cycle. If it does declare you unfit, the review medical needs written consent within 24 hours.

9. Decide which entry you want, and budget for the trip

Driver is a transport post in the general cadre; DCPO is a firefighting post in the Fire Wing. They pay the same at entry and lead to different places. Either way the physical, documentation and driving stages run at a sector recruitment centre, you stay under your own arrangements, and no travelling or daily allowance is paid.

Sample Papers

No sample papers are available for the CISF driver entries. CISF releases no previous papers for any rank it recruits itself. A tentative answer key goes up on cisfrectt.cisf.gov.in after each written exam and comes down once it is final, so save a copy the day it appears.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between CISF Constable (Driver) and Constable (DCPO)?

DCPO is Driver-cum-Pump-Operator and it is a Fire Wing post: a DCPO drives the fire appliance and works its pump, and promotes to Head Constable (Driver-cum-Pump-Operator) inside the wing. Constable (Driver) is a transport post in the general cadre. Both are Pay Level 3, both need three licence classes and three years of driving, and both run 21 to 27. CISF's page lists a female height standard for Driver and none for DCPO.

What driving licence do I need?

Three classes, valid and held at once: Heavy Motor Vehicle, Light Motor Vehicle and motorcycle with gear, plus three years of driving. The DCPO entry accepts a transport vehicle licence in place of the heavy motor vehicle one. ITBP asks its drivers for a single transport licence and two years, so CISF's bar is materially higher.

What is the physical test?

800 m in 3 minutes 15 seconds, an 11 foot long jump and a 3 foot 6 inch high jump, three chances at each jump. It is the least demanding run CISF sets for its own constable entries and the only one with jumps: Constable (Fire) runs 5 km in 24 minutes, Constable (Tradesmen) 1.6 km in 6 minutes 30 seconds.

Does the driving test come before or after the written exam?

Before. The order is height bar test; then PET, PST, documentation and the driving test together; then the written exam; then the medical. Fail the driving and you never sit the paper. ITBP does it the other way round, at stage six of eight.

What is the salary?

Pay Level 3, ₹21,700 to ₹69,100, the same as every other CISF constable trade.

How is the merit list decided?

On the written exam alone. Every other stage is pass or fail, driving test included, so an exceptional driver and a barely adequate one who both clear stage two are ranked purely on the paper. There is no negative marking, and marks are normalised where the exam runs in more than one shift.

Can women apply?

For Constable (Driver), yes: CISF's page lists a female height standard of 157 cm. For Constable (DCPO) it lists a single height and chest with no female figures, which on the face of the page means no. CISF is adding female standards elsewhere in the Fire Wing under an MHA direction to raise women's representation, so check the advertisement for the cycle.

When is the next CISF driver recruitment?

None is live as at 12 September 2026, and CISF publishes no annual calendar for the recruitments it runs itself. An advertisement appears on the portal when the cadre needs filling. Do the one-time registration now; CISF treats it as a permanent database and reuses it for every examination.

What does a DCPO need for promotion?

Five years of regular service in the grade at Pay Level 3, medical category SHAPE-1, and success in the promotion cadre course for Head Constable (Driver-cum-Pump-Operator), whose syllabus covers indoor subjects, outdoor subjects and practicals followed by a test or interview. The same rules set a fire wing direct recruit's seniority by adding the recruitment test marks and the basic training marks in a 50:50 ratio.
