DSSSB PRT Syllabus, Exam Pattern, Eligibility

139 topics across 5 subjects. Every question carries a written explanation.

DSSSB fills the Assistant Teacher (Primary) posts, the PRT cadre that teaches Classes 1 to 5, for Delhi government schools run by the Directorate of Education (DoE) and for New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) schools. Recruitment runs as a combined exam: one post code, one CBT, and departments allotted afterwards on merit and preference.

The current round is Advertisement No. 05/2025, post code 802/25. It opened with 1,180 posts; a May 2026 corrigendum cut the DoE share, leaving 1,169 (1,044 DoE, 125 NDMC). The CBT ran between February and April 2026 and 83,615 people sat it. Marks came out on 13 October 2026 and shortlisted candidates are now uploading e-dossiers.

DSSSB PRT Details

Exam Pattern

One CBT, 200 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours. Questions are in Hindi and English except the language sections. A wrong answer costs 0.25.

SectionContentMarks
AReasoning, General Awareness, Arithmetic, English, Hindi (20 each)100
BNCTE curriculum for primary teacher training, including teaching methodology100

The pass mark is applied to Section B only. Merit is on the total of both sections, normalised across shifts.

Syllabus

Section A is the Board's standard general paper. Section B is drawn from the NCTE curriculum for elementary teacher education, teaching methodology included, so a D.El.Ed. or B.El.Ed. syllabus is the right base. DSSSB posts its own topic list per post code on the Section B indicative syllabus page.

Eligibility Criteria

Age: not over 30 on 16 October 2025, the closing date. SC/ST get 5 more years, OBC (Delhi) 3, PwBD 10. DoE guest and contract teachers can add the time they served, up to 5 years.

DepartmentQualification
DoE (1,044 posts)Class 12 with 50% and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (45% is enough if the diploma follows the NCTE 2002 regulations), or Class 12 with 50% and a 4-year B.El.Ed., or Class 12 with 50% and a 2-year D.Ed. (Special Education), or a degree plus the 2-year elementary diploma. Plus CTET, and Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi or English studied in Class 10.
NDMC (125 posts)Class 12 with 50% (45% for SC/ST), a 2-year diploma in primary education, ETE, JBT or B.El.Ed., Hindi in Class 10, and CTET. Computer knowledge is desirable.

Reserved categories get up to 5% relaxation in the qualifying marks of the academic qualification. Note that the DoE list has no B.Ed. route: a B.Ed. alone does not qualify.

Selection Process

There is no interview. After the CBT the Board publishes marks and calls the top scorers in each category to upload an e-dossier and rank DoE and NDMC in order of preference. Anyone who skips the preference step drops out of the result. Posts are then allotted on merit cum preference, and the department checks certificates before the offer letter.

Salary

Pay Level 6, ₹35,400–1,12,400, Group B non-gazetted, in both DoE and NDMC, plus Delhi government allowances.

How to Apply

Apply on OARS (dsssbonline.nic.in) after a one-time registration. The fee is ₹100 through SBI e-pay; women, SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen pay nothing. You cannot edit the form, category included, once it is submitted.

Preparation Tips
  • Clear CTET first. Without it the application is invalid however well you score.
  • The UR cut-off sat at 172 out of 200 this round, so Section A cannot be treated as filler.
  • Practise from the Board's own question bank, which has past CBT papers by year.
  • Mark wrong answers carefully: at 0.25 a mistake, guessing on half-known questions rarely pays.
