UP domicile
Only permanent residents of Uttar Pradesh can claim reserved posts, vertical or horizontal. SC, ST, OBC, DFF, women and ex-servicemen from outside UP are treated as unreserved and compete for the 40 UR posts. Women must use a certificate issued from the father's side.
Certificates
- SC, ST, OBC and EWS certificates in the UP Government format (Appendices 1 to 5), verifiable online.
- OBC and EWS certificates must be issued on or after 1 April 2026 and valid on the last date. The Hindi text adds that a caste certificate should be issued within six months before the CBT.
- EWS without a valid certificate is treated as General. The income and asset certificate must be from a Tehsildar or above, under the UP order of 18 February 2019.
A man with more than one living wife, or a woman married to a man with a living wife, isn't eligible unless the Governor exempts them.
Selection Process
- Merit in the CBT.
- Biometric and document verification.
- Medical examination.
There's no interview. The exam body, still to be appointed, will invite applications in its own format, issue admit cards, and send a merit list to the appointing authority, keeping SC, ST and other categories properly represented. Watch gims.ac.in for its name.
You're admitted to the CBT provisionally. If you turn out to be ineligible, your candidature is cancelled, even after an appointment decision. Cheating or misconduct can get you barred from this and future exams. The Director can leave any or all posts unfilled. Disputes go to Gautam Buddh Nagar courts.
Salary
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Grade Pay | Rs 4,600 |
| Basic Pay | Rs 44,900 |
| Basis | Regular |
Rs 4,600 grade pay corresponds to Level-7 of the 7th Pay Commission matrix, and Rs 44,900 is its starting point. The advertisement doesn't list allowances, probation, pension or promotion; those follow the Institute's service rules.
The post is regular, unlike the many contractual and outsourced nursing jobs advertised in UP, including some on this Institute's own page. You work at the Institute's hospital in Greater Noida, with no district postings or transfers. Selected candidates must pass a medical, and those in regular service elsewhere need a No Objection Certificate.
How to Apply
Apply online only, on gims.ac.in, between 10 August and 7 October 2026.
| Category | Fee | GST at 18 per cent | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unreserved | Rs 1,100 | Rs 198 | Rs 1,298 |
| OBC and EWS | Rs 1,100 | Rs 198 | Rs 1,298 |
| SC and ST | Rs 800 | Rs 144 | Rs 944 |
| Divyang, all categories, of Uttar Pradesh | Exempted | ||
Non-refundable. Horizontal categories pay by their basic category, so an unreserved woman pays Rs 1,298.
The five steps are registration, the form, uploads, payment and printing. You can't print the form until you've paid. Before final submission you can change anything except mobile number, e-mail, Aadhaar number and category. After it, you get one modification.
Don't post anything, but keep a printed copy. Certificates must be in the brochure's formats (Appendices 1 to 5). The Institute won't advise on eligibility or correspond with candidates. Helpdesk: 9986640811, gimsrec.helpdesk@gmail.com, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on working days; Institute phone 0120-2341738.
Participating Institutes
Government Institute of Medical Sciences, Greater Noida, Gautam Buddh Nagar, UP 201310, is an autonomous institute under the UP Government, set up on the lines of SGPGI Lucknow. The Director signs the advertisement; the Chairman will appoint the exam body.
The qualification must be recognised by the Indian Nursing Council (or, for B.Sc, the UP State Medical Faculty), with registration as Nurse and Midwife.
Reservation follows UP law: the 1994 reservation Act as amended, the EWS Act of 2020, and the UP Public Services (Reservation for Physically Handicapped, Dependents of Freedom Fighters and Ex-Servicemen) Act 1993, amended in 2018 and 2021. Horizontal reservation applies only to identified posts.
Exam Centres
Four cities (Appendix-7): Delhi and NCR, Lucknow, Gorakhpur and Varanasi. You give preferences when applying; the exact centre comes with the hall ticket. If your choices are full, you get the nearest other city. No change of centre is allowed, and no TA or DA is paid for the exam or document verification.
Identity document rules will come with the hall ticket from the exam body. Check gims.ac.in.
Important Dates
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| 9 August 2026 | Advertisement issued |
| 10 August 2026 | Applications open |
| 7 September 2026 | Original last date |
| 8 September 2026 | Extension notice in The Times of India and Dainik Jagran, Delhi and Lucknow |
| 7 October 2026 | Extended last date |
The exam date, admit card date and final fee deadline hadn't been announced as at 12 September 2026. They'll appear on the recruitment page. Age is reckoned on 1 July, separately from the deadline.
Admit Card
Download the hall ticket from gims.ac.in; it isn't posted. It's issued by the exam body, which hasn't been named yet, and you can't enter without it. Your exact centre is shown on it.
A hall ticket only means your application was accepted. Your qualification, experience and category are checked later.
Result
No result yet. The exam hadn't been held when last checked. When it is, the result will appear on gims.ac.in or the exam body's site.
Clear 40 per cent (35 for SC and ST), then the merit list decides, followed by biometric and document verification and a medical. False information, ineligibility, criminal cases or misconduct can cancel a selection at any stage.
Cut Off
No cut-off exists yet; the exam hasn't been held. The 40 and 35 per cent in the exam pattern are minimum qualifying marks, not a cut-off. When a result is published it will be on gims.ac.in, or on the site of the exam body the Institute appoints.
Only 40 of the 100 posts are unreserved, and every candidate from outside UP competes for those 40, so expect the unreserved line to be well above the reserved ones.
Preparation Tips
Answer, then mark for review. A flagged question with no answer scores nothing when the section closes, and you can't return to a closed section.
Cover every subject. Section A has 60 marks over eleven subjects, about five or six questions each; Sections B and C give two or three each.
Do the four subjects nobody revises: Forensic Nursing, Nursing Research and Statistics, national health programme treatment protocols, and Nursing Informatics. That's eight to ten marks for a few evenings' work. Don't leave Mental Health Nursing to last either; it heads Section A.
Revise procedures. Twenty questions are practical: steps, equipment, order of actions.
Guess only when you've narrowed it down. With 0.25 off per wrong answer, answer what you can cut to two or three options and skip the rest.
Practise sections on separate clocks. Build mocks of 60, 25 and 15 questions from your own GNM or B.Sc Nursing course papers, with the 0.25 penalty. If you prepare in Hindi, make sure you can read the English version, which decides disputes.
Sort the paperwork before 7 October: the 50-bed hospital experience certificate, an OBC or EWS certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026, and your High School certificate for age.
Sample Papers
No previous year papers or answer keys are available for GIMS Staff Nurse. This is the Institute's first exam under this advertisement and it hasn't been held yet.
