Indian Navy SSR Medical Assistant Syllabus, Exam Pattern
131 topics across 4 subjects. Every question carries a written explanation.
SSR (Medical Assistant) is not an Agniveer entry. That is easy to miss, and the Indian Navy says it in the layout of its own recruitment calendar.
The calendar has three eligibility tables. One covers induction as an officer. The second, Eligibility Criteria for Entry as an Agniveer, has exactly three rows: Agniveer (Senior Secondary Recruit), Agniveer (Matric Recruit) and Agniveer {MR (Musician)}. The third, Eligibility Criteria for Other Entries, has two: Direct Entry Chief Petty Officer or Petty Officer (Sports Entry), and SSR (Medical Assistant). Against the Medical Assistant branch the calendar carries the symbol @, whose footnote reads: "Initial engagement subject to successful completion of training, for a period of 20 years."
Four years against twenty
| Agniveer (SSR) and Agniveer (MR) | SSR (Medical Assistant) | |
|---|---|---|
| Which table it sits in | Entry as an Agniveer | Other Entries |
| Initial engagement | Four years, including training | Twenty years, subject to successful completion of training |
| Pay | A customised Agniveer package, ₹30,000 rising to ₹40,000, with a Seva Nidhi lump sum and no pension | The terms of the regular sailor cadre |
| Selection procedure | Identical. The calendar groups all three in one column of its selection procedure table | |
So you sit the same two stages and meet the same standards as an Agniveer, then join on terms that are not an Agniveer's at all. The shared "SSR", which stands for Senior Secondary Recruit in both, is what causes the confusion.
What a Medical Assistant does
The posting is to the same fleet as the SSR entry: aircraft carriers, guided missile destroyers and frigates, replenishment ships, submarines and aircraft. The work is nursing and first aid, the management of medical stores, dispensaries and ward supervision.
Training is at INS Chilka for the basic course, then professional training for the Medical Branch. Unlike the Agniveer entries, where the branch is allotted as the service requires, this entry is to one branch: if you are selected, you are a Medical Assistant.
The qualification, and its unusual second condition
10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, from a board recognised by the Ministry of Education, with 50 per cent in the aggregate and 40 per cent in each subject. That second condition sets this entry apart from every other sailor entry. Agniveer (SSR) and (MR) ask for 50 per cent in the aggregate and say nothing about individual subjects, so a candidate with 52 per cent overall but 38 per cent in Chemistry is not eligible here.
The age band is 17½ to 21 years on the day of enrolment, and for once the entry page and the recruitment calendar agree.
The Navy runs a separate registration and login portal for this entry, listed as SSR (Medical), with separate cycles for INET 2025 and INET 2026. Use that one, not the AVR (SSR/MR) portal.

Indian Navy SSR Medical Assistant Details
Exam Pattern
The selection has two written components, and the Navy publishes a syllabus for each.
| Stage | What it is | What the Navy publishes |
|---|---|---|
| Stage I | A computer based online examination (INET), or, in some batches, screening on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination | A Stage I syllabus, linked from the entry page |
| Stage II | The written examination, taken at the Stage II centre alongside the Physical Fitness Test and the recruitment medical | A Stage II syllabus, linked from the entry page |
What the Navy publishes about the written examination for the senior secondary entries applies here:
| Type | Objective |
| Language | Bilingual: Hindi and English |
| Standard | 12th level |
| To pass | Candidates are required to pass in all sections as well as in the aggregate |
That last row is the whole of the difficulty. You must pass every section and the aggregate. A biology candidate's strength in the science section carries no failure elsewhere, and neither does a comfortable total.
Use this entry's syllabus, not Agniveer (SSR)'s
Agniveer (SSR) requires Mathematics and Physics at 10+2; this entry requires Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Work from the Stage I and Stage II syllabuses on the SSR (Medical Assistant) page rather than the Agniveer (SSR) one, whose mathematics column runs to calculus, conic sections and matrices.
What the Navy does not publish
No question count, no marks per question, no duration for this entry, no statement on negative marking and no section wise qualifying marks. What exists is the syllabus, the standard and the requirement to pass every section. And unlike Agniveer (SSR) and (MR), no sample paper is published for this entry.
One more thing follows from Stage I being either an online test or a screening on qualifying marks. Where a batch uses the second route, your class 12 percentage becomes the shortlisting criterion rather than a 50 per cent threshold, with no paper to recover on. Since eligibility already needs 40 per cent in each of Physics, Chemistry and Biology, subject marks matter twice over.
Syllabus
The Navy publishes two syllabus documents for this entry, one for the Stage I online examination and one for the Stage II written examination, both linked from the SSR (Medical Assistant) entry page. Those are the documents to work from.
Why not the Agniveer (SSR) syllabus
| Agniveer (SSR) | SSR (Medical Assistant) | |
|---|---|---|
| Qualification | 10+2 with Mathematics and Physics | 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology |
| Subject minimum | 50 per cent in the aggregate | 50 per cent in the aggregate and 40 per cent in each subject |
| Published materials | Stage I syllabus, Stage II syllabus, sample question papers | Stage I syllabus, Stage II syllabus |
A candidate here has taken Biology rather than Mathematics, and the Agniveer (SSR) mathematics syllabus runs to calculus, conic sections, matrices and determinants, complex numbers and three dimensional geometry. None of that is material a PCB candidate has studied.
The sections common to the Navy's sailor papers
The same four kinds of material recur across the Navy's published sailor syllabuses, and they matter because the passing rule requires every section.
| Kind of section | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Science | School physics and chemistry at class 11 and 12 standard, with biology, physiology, nutrition and health appearing in the senior secondary syllabus |
| Mathematics | School mathematics at the level of the entry |
| English | Grammar and usage: prepositions, correction of sentences, punctuation, active and passive voice, direct and indirect speech, verbs and tenses, phrasal verbs, synonyms and antonyms, determiners, pronouns, and a comprehension passage |
| General Awareness | Geography including ports and inland harbours, culture and religion, the freedom movement, history, defence, wars and neighbours, sports, national symbols, capitals and currencies, abbreviations, awards and authors, eminent personalities, discoveries, diseases and nutrition, current affairs, and a block of reasoning: spatial, numerical, sequences, spellings, unscrambling, coding and decoding |
Two things in that last row are worth acting on. Reasoning sits inside General Awareness rather than forming its own section, and it is the bounded, drillable part of an otherwise unbounded one. And diseases and nutrition is a named General Awareness topic, which for a Medical Assistant candidate overlaps their own school subjects.
Against the passing rule, that gives a clear order of work. For a PCB candidate the science section is the safe one and the risk sits in English and General Awareness. English is a closed list and can be finished; the reasoning block is the second closed target. Everything after those two is current affairs and static lists.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational qualification
Qualified in the 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, from a board recognised by the Ministry of Education, with 50 per cent in the aggregate and a minimum of 40 per cent in each subject.
That second condition is what most often makes a candidate ineligible. Every other sailor entry asks only for 50 per cent in the aggregate. Here 52 per cent overall with 38 per cent in Chemistry does not qualify, whatever the total.
The age band is 17½ to 21 years on the day of enrolment, and both the entry page and the 2026 recruitment calendar agree on it, which they do not for the Agniveer entries.
The Physical Fitness Test
Qualifying is mandatory for selection. It is not scored, and it is conducted at Stage II.
| Event | Male | Female |
|---|---|---|
| 1.6 km run | 6 minutes 30 seconds | 8 minutes |
| Squats (uthak baithak) | 20 | 15 |
| Push-ups | 15 | 10 |
| Bent knee sit-ups | 15 | 10 |
Four events, not one. Train only for the run and you will fail on push-ups; the strength events look modest written down and are the ones most often underprepared.
Visual standards
| Uncorrected vision | Corrected vision | Colour perception |
|---|---|---|
| 6/12, 6/12 | 6/6, 6/6 | II |
Spectacles are allowed, which several other uniformed entries do not permit. The uncorrected standard of 6/12 in each eye is far more forgiving than the Coast Guard's General Duty officer standard or the Commission's Sub-Inspector standard.
A candidate who has had PRK, LASIK or SMILE can be considered fit under seven published conditions: the surgery was not before the age of 20; it was uncomplicated and at least 12 months before the examination, with a certificate from the eye centre giving the type, date and pre-operative refractive error to be produced at the medical; axial length 26 mm or less; residual corneal thickness not less than 450 microns; residual refraction of +1.0 D or less; pre-operative refractive error not more than plus or minus 6.0 D; and a normal retinal examination. Refractive surgery is not acceptable for the submarine, diving and MARCOS cadres, and radial keratotomy or a phakic intra-ocular lens is a permanent bar for all branches.
Height
| Category | Minimum height |
|---|---|
| General standard | 157 cm |
| Tribals from Ladakh | 155 cm |
| Andaman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands | 155 cm |
| Gorkhas, Nepali, Assamese, Garhwali, Kumaoni and Uttarakhand | 152 cm |
| Bhutan, Sikkim and the North East Region | 152 cm |
The same 157 cm applies to men and women, which is unusual; here the relaxations, not the gender, do the differentiating.
Candidates awaiting a board result may apply, but are selected only on producing the original marksheet during Stage II, an internet copy not being accepted, and only if the marks reach the minimum in the aggregate and in the individual subjects for their category. A result that arrives after Stage II is of no use.
Selection Process
Two stages and a medical.
| Stage | What it is | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Stage I | Computer based online examination (INET), or screening on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination | The allotted centre |
| Stage II | Written Examination, Physical Fitness Test and Recruitment Medical | The designated centre |
| Induction | Induction and final Recruitment Medical | INS Chilka, Odisha |
Stage I: an online test, or a screening on marks
Both routes are live, and which one a batch uses is stated in its advertisement. In a batch screened on qualifying marks, the class X or class XII percentage is not a threshold but the shortlisting criterion, and a candidate at the minimum 50 per cent is competing against candidates well above it.
Stage II: paper, ground and medical together
Three things happen in one visit and you must clear all three: the written examination; the Physical Fitness Test, whose four events are under Eligibility Criteria and in which qualifying is mandatory; and the recruitment medical against the visual, height and general standards. Documents are verified here too, which is where a candidate who applied while awaiting a board result must produce the original marksheet.
Induction and the final medical
Selection is not complete at Stage II. You report to INS Chilka in Odisha for induction and a final recruitment medical, and that medical is a real gate: a candidate found unfit there does not join, having already cleared the paper, the ground and an earlier medical.
Training is ab initio at INS Chilka, followed by professional training for the Medical Branch. Where an Agniveer's branch or trade is allotted as the service requires, this entry has only one branch.
Salary
Here the entry parts company with the Agniveer entries entirely.
| Entry | Initial engagement | Where the Navy states it |
|---|---|---|
| Agniveer (SSR), Agniveer (MR), Agniveer {MR (Musician)} | Four years, including training | The Duration of Service page: "The duration of the service will be four (04) years including training period" |
| SSR (Medical Assistant) | Twenty years, subject to successful completion of training | The footnote to the Other Entries table in the official recruitment calendar 2026 |
Twenty years is a career, not an engagement, and it carries consequences an Agniveer's four years expressly does not. The Agniveer terms state that Agniveers make no Provident Fund contribution, that there is no entitlement to gratuity and no pensionary benefit, and that what they leave with is the Seva Nidhi package. None of that framework applies to a twenty year initial engagement.
What the Navy publishes, and what it does not
The recruitment site carries a pay page for officers and a pay page for Agniveers. It carries no pay table for SSR (Medical Assistant), and none is invented here. What its own documents establish is that this is not an Agniveer entry, that the initial engagement is twenty years, and that the pay, allowances and terminal benefits are those of the regular sailor cadre at the rank held. For a particular batch, the notification published in Employment News is the authoritative statement, and the Navy's calendar directs candidates to it.
What this changes about the decision
| Agniveer (SSR) | SSR (Medical Assistant) | |
|---|---|---|
| Qualification | 10+2 with Mathematics and Physics, or an engineering diploma, or a vocational course | 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, 50 per cent aggregate and 40 per cent in each subject |
| Branch | Allotted by the Navy from Seaman, Communication, Electrical, Engineering, Naval Aviation, Logistics | Medical Assistant. One branch, known in advance |
| Engagement | Four years | Twenty years |
| Terms | Customised package, Seva Nidhi, no pension | Regular sailor cadre terms |
| Selection | The same two stages, the same Physical Fitness Test, the same visual and height standards | |
How to Apply
Online only, through joinindiannavy.gov.in. There is no offline route and no agent.
The Navy runs a separate registration and login portal for each entry and each cycle. The site currently carries registration for Officer, AVR MR (Musician), AVR (SSR/MR), SSR (Medical) and AVR (Apprentice), with separate logins for the 2025 and 2026 cycles of each. An old login does not carry over.
The window, and the habit of extending it
| Entry and batch | What the Navy announced |
|---|---|
| AVR (SSR), AVR (MR) and SSR (Medical) for INET 26 | Online application live from 14 March 2026. Now closed |
| AVR MR (Musician) 02/26 batch | Window extended to 30 April 2026 |
| Agniveer SSR and MR 01/27 batch | Call up letters for Stage II to be issued by September 2026 |
What must be right on the form
- The e-mail address and mobile number. Only electronic communication is used at every stage, and you should not change either until selection is over.
- The examination centre, opted subject to availability.
- The marks in the qualifying examination, which in a screened batch are the shortlisting criterion rather than a threshold.
- The category, since the minimum marks in the aggregate and in individual subjects are set by category.
Applying while awaiting a board result is permitted, with the condition that ends applications every cycle: you are selected only on producing the original marksheet during Stage II, an internet copy is not accepted, and the marks must reach the minimum in the aggregate and in each subject.
The Navy recruits directly and takes payment only through its own portal. Any assurance of selection, from any source, is a fraud.
Participating Institutes
The Indian Navy recruits for itself. There is no commission, board or state agency between the candidate and the service.
| Body | Role |
|---|---|
| Directorate of Manpower Planning and Recruitment (DMPR), Naval Headquarters | Publishes the advertisement, runs the online application, conducts the examination and issues the enrolment |
| INS Chilka, Odisha | Induction, the final recruitment medical, and ab initio training for every sailor and Agniveer in the Navy |
| The Navy's professional schools | Trade and branch training after INS Chilka |
INS Chilka, on the shore of Chilika Lake in Odisha, is the Navy's basic training establishment for sailors. Every entry passes through it: induction, the final recruitment medical and ab initio training all happen there before a recruit moves to a professional school.
| Recruitment site | joinindiannavy.gov.in |
| Sailor and Agniveer queries | sailor@navy.gov.in |
| Directorate | Directorate of Manpower Planning and Recruitment, Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) |
The separate registration portals are a frequent source of confusion. Use the one for your own entry and your own cycle.
Exam Centres
Stage I is held at centres across the country; everything after it is at establishments the Navy names.
| Stage | Where | Who chooses |
|---|---|---|
| Stage I, online examination | A designated examination centre | The candidate opts, subject to availability; the centre appears on the admit card |
| Stage II: written examination, Physical Fitness Test and recruitment medical | A designated Stage II centre | The Navy. The call up letter names it |
| Induction and final recruitment medical | INS Chilka, Odisha | Fixed |
| Ab initio training | INS Chilka, Odisha | Fixed |
| Professional training | The Navy's professional schools | By the branch allotted |
Stage II is not a paper. It is a written examination, a four event Physical Fitness Test and a recruitment medical, with document verification alongside, all at one centre. Plan for more than a day, and arrive able to run 1.6 km inside the standard on the morning you are told to.
The date, time and place of each stage come through the call up letter cum admit card, downloaded from your login. Treat the admit card as the authoritative statement of where to go.
Important Dates
The Navy recruits in numbered batches, each with its own advertisement, window and stage dates. The batch number carries the year of induction: the 01/27 batch is the first inducting in 2027.
| Step | When it happens |
|---|---|
| Advertisement published | On joinindiannavy.gov.in and in Employment News, per batch |
| Online application window | Announced with the advertisement, and frequently extended |
| Stage I: online examination or screening on qualifying marks | Per batch, at the allotted centre |
| Stage II: written examination, Physical Fitness Test and recruitment medical | Per batch, at the designated centre |
| Induction and final recruitment medical | At INS Chilka, Odisha |
Where the cycle stood in September 2026
Online application for AVR (SSR), AVR (MR) and SSR (Medical) for INET 26 went live on 14 March 2026 and has closed. The AVR MR (Musician) 02/26 window was extended to 30 April 2026 and has closed. Call up letters for Stage II of the Agniveer SSR and MR 01/27 batch were to be issued by September 2026.
Read those together and the lead time appears: an application in March 2026 is for a batch inducting in 2027, with Stage II falling around eighteen months after the window opened.
One date behaves unlike most central recruitments. The age band is reckoned on the day of enrolment, not on a crucial date months before the paper, so a candidate near the upper limit should work from the batch's induction date rather than the application date.
Everything is announced on joinindiannavy.gov.in and by electronic message. The yearly official recruitment calendar is the best single document to read before an advertisement appears.
Admit Card
The Navy issues a call up letter cum admit card for each stage, downloaded from your own login at joinindiannavy.gov.in. Nothing is sent by post.
| What | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Admit card for Stage I, the online examination | Date, time and place |
| Call up letter for Stage II | The centre and the reporting date for the written examination, Physical Fitness Test and medical |
| Joining instructions for induction | Reporting at INS Chilka |
Only electronic communication is used at every stage of selection, so the e-mail address and mobile number on the application are the only channels, with no postal fallback and no second notice.
Use the right portal. There are separate logins for AVR (SSR/MR) INET 2025 and 2026, SSR (Medical) INET 2025 and 2026, AVR MR (Musician), AVR (Apprentice) and the officer cycle. Look for an admit card in the wrong one and you will not find it.
Result
Results are read from your own login on joinindiannavy.gov.in, and the Navy notifies candidates electronically.
| Result | What it decides |
|---|---|
| Stage I result | Who is called to Stage II |
| Stage II result | Who is called for induction, after the written examination, the Physical Fitness Test and the recruitment medical |
| Induction | Enrolment, after the final recruitment medical at INS Chilka |
Clearing Stage II is not enrolment. The final medical at INS Chilka is a real gate, and a candidate found unfit there does not join.
The Navy publishes no category wise cut off marks, no candidate wise scorecards and no stage by stage candidate counts on its recruitment site. What it publishes is the method: the qualifying rule for the written examination, the Physical Fitness Test standards, the visual and height standards and the structure of the two stages. Any cut off figure found outside joinindiannavy.gov.in did not come from the Navy.
Cut Off
The Navy publishes the rules by which candidates are filtered, and never the marks. Worth stating plainly, because figures circulate.
The one published qualifying rule for the written examination is the same for every sailor entry: candidates are required to pass in all sections as well as in the aggregate. That is a sectional gate, and it decides most outcomes. Strength in one section does not carry a weakness in another, and the total does not rescue either.
The gates that carry no marks at all
| Gate | Standard | Scored? |
|---|---|---|
| Physical Fitness Test | 1.6 km run, squats, push-ups and bent knee sit-ups to the published standards | No. Qualifying is mandatory for selection |
| Visual standard | 6/12 and 6/12 uncorrected, 6/6 and 6/6 corrected, colour perception II | No. Pass or fail |
| Height | 157 cm, relaxed to 155 or 152 by domicile | No. Pass or fail |
| Final medical at INS Chilka | The Navy's medical standards | No, and it comes after everything else |
The screening that is a cut off in all but name
Where a batch uses screening rather than the online test for Stage I, the percentage in the qualifying examination becomes the shortlisting criterion. The eligibility threshold is 50 per cent in the aggregate; the effective line is wherever the field puts it, and it is never published in advance. So the answer to "what marks do I need" in a screened batch is: as high a school percentage as possible, because there is no examination to recover on.
So: pass every section, clear the Physical Fitness Test comfortably rather than marginally, maximise the qualifying examination percentage, and deal with anything the medical might find before Stage II.
Preparation Tips
1. Know what you are applying to
SSR (Medical Assistant) is not an Agniveer entry. The recruitment calendar puts it under Eligibility Criteria for Other Entries with a footnote reading "Initial engagement subject to successful completion of training, for a period of 20 years". Weighing this against Agniveer (SSR) means weighing twenty years against four, on the same selection procedure.
2. Check the per-subject minimum before anything else
10+2 with PCB at 50 per cent in the aggregate and 40 per cent in each subject. That condition appears in no other sailor entry, and no amount of preparation changes a 38 per cent in Chemistry. Check the marksheet first.
3. You must pass every section, not just the total
For a PCB candidate the science section is the comfortable one and the risk sits in English and General Awareness. That is where the marginal hour belongs.
4. Work from this entry's own syllabus
The Stage I and Stage II syllabuses are on the SSR (Medical Assistant) page. The Agniveer (SSR) syllabus is built on a Mathematics and Physics qualification, and its mathematics column runs to calculus, conic sections and matrices.
5. Finish English, because it can be finished
A closed list of named constructions: prepositions, correction of sentences, punctuation, voice, narration, tenses, non-finites, phrasal verbs, synonyms and antonyms, determiners, pronouns and a comprehension passage. No essay, no precis, no literature.
6. Mine the reasoning block, and the topic that overlaps your subjects
Reasoning sits inside General Awareness, not as a section of its own: spatial, numerical, sequences, spellings, unscrambling, coding and decoding, all bounded and drillable. And diseases and nutrition is a named General Awareness topic that a Biology candidate already holds.
Use the Agniveer (SSR) sample papers selectively
They are the closest available, but their mathematics is built on a Mathematics and Physics qualification. Use them for English, General Awareness and timing, and take the science from this entry's own syllabus.
7. Train for four events, and start early
A 1.6 km run in 6 minutes 30 seconds for men and 8 minutes for women, 20 squats, 15 push-ups and 15 bent knee sit-ups for men, 15, 10 and 10 for women. It carries no marks, so the written paper cannot compensate for it, and qualifying is mandatory.
8. Settle the eyesight question before you apply
Spectacles are permitted. After PRK, LASIK or SMILE you can be considered fit under seven published conditions, carrying a certificate from the eye centre. Radial keratotomy and a phakic intra-ocular lens are permanent bars for all branches.
And two things about the process
- Use the SSR (Medical) portal for your own cycle. An old login does not carry over.
- If you apply while awaiting your class 12 result, you are selected only on producing the original marksheet at Stage II, and the marks must reach 50 per cent overall and 40 per cent in each of Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Sample Papers
No sample paper is published for SSR (Medical Assistant), only the Stage I and Stage II syllabuses on the entry page. The nearest substitute is the Agniveer (SSR) sample paper, set at the same 12th level. Practice advice is under Preparation Tips.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is SSR (Medical Assistant) an Agniveer entry?
No. The 2026 recruitment calendar has a table headed Eligibility Criteria for Entry as an Agniveer with exactly three rows, and a separate Other Entries table in which SSR (Medical Assistant) sits. The footnote against its branch reads: "Initial engagement subject to successful completion of training, for a period of 20 years."
How long is the engagement?
Twenty years, subject to successful completion of training, against four for an Agniveer. The Agniveer terms state expressly that there is no gratuity and no pensionary benefit, and that framework does not apply to a twenty year engagement.
What will I be paid?
The Navy publishes pay pages for officers and for Agniveers and no pay table for this entry. What its documents establish is that this is not an Agniveer entry, that the engagement is twenty years, and that the pay and terminal benefits are those of the regular sailor cadre. For a given batch, the notification in Employment News is authoritative.
What qualification do I need?
10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, with 50 per cent in the aggregate and a minimum of 40 per cent in each subject. That per-subject minimum appears in no other sailor entry.
What is the age limit?
17½ to 21 years on the day of enrolment. The entry page and the 2026 calendar agree on this, which they do not for the Agniveer entries, where the pages say 22 and the calendar says 21.
What does a Medical Assistant do?
Nursing and first aid, and the management of medical stores, dispensaries and ward supervision, on the same fleet as the other senior secondary entries: carriers, destroyers and frigates, replenishment ships, submarines and aircraft.
Will I be allotted a different branch?
No. Unlike the Agniveer entries, where the branch is allotted as the service requires, this entry is to one branch, with professional training for the Medical Branch after the basic course at INS Chilka.
What is the selection procedure?
Stage I is a computer based online examination (INET), or screening on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination. Stage II is the written examination, the Physical Fitness Test and the recruitment medical together. Then induction and a final recruitment medical at INS Chilka.
Are there sample papers?
Not for this entry. The Navy publishes a Stage I and a Stage II syllabus on the SSR (Medical Assistant) page, and sample papers for Agniveer (SSR) and (MR) only. Those are the closest substitute, with the caution that their mathematics section rests on a qualification a PCB candidate does not hold.
How hard is the physical test?
Four events, carrying no marks: 1.6 km in 6 minutes 30 seconds, 20 squats, 15 push-ups and 15 bent knee sit-ups for men, and 1.6 km in 8 minutes with 15, 10 and 10 for women. Qualifying is mandatory for selection.
Can I wear spectacles?
Yes. The standard is 6/12 and 6/12 uncorrected, 6/6 and 6/6 corrected, colour perception II. PRK, LASIK or SMILE can be accepted under seven published conditions, but radial keratotomy and a phakic intra-ocular lens are permanent bars for all branches, and refractive surgery of any kind rules out the submarine, diving and MARCOS cadres.
Which portal do I apply on?
The one listed as SSR (Medical), with separate cycles for INET 2025 and INET 2026. Not the AVR (SSR/MR) portal, and an old cycle's login does not carry over.
Where will I be trained?
INS Chilka, on Chilika Lake in Odisha, for induction, the final medical and ab initio training, then professional training for the Medical Branch.
