Sub-Inspector, Commercial Taxes is a post in the State Taxes Department of the J&K Finance Department. Recruitment is run by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB).
The one recruitment the Board's own papers name for this post is Advertisement Notification No. 03 of 2020, dated 1 December 2020, Item No. 021: a Divisional Cadre (Kashmir) post filled under the Prime Minister's Special Package for Kashmiri Migrants and Non-Migrant Kashmiri Pandits. The selection list went to the department in September 2021, and the Board released 55 withheld recommendations in October 2021 and two more in April 2022. Nothing newer has been advertised under this title.

Eligibility Criteria
The 2020 notification was open only to Kashmiri migrants and non-migrant Kashmiri Pandits under the PM package, for the Kashmir division cadre. Its age limits and category rules are in the notification itself, which is on the Board's advertisement list.
For the Finance Department's Sub-Inspector (Finance) posts the Board's selection list gives the qualification as graduation from any recognised university.
Selection Process
The Board prepared a merit list from the written test score. The result sheet gives each candidate's percentile score, with category noted. Selected candidates had their documents checked, and the Board withheld the recommendation of those whose documents were incomplete until they produced them.
Under Government Order No. 1003-JK(GAD) of 2021, a candidate whose recommendation is released has 21 days to submit verification rolls in triplicate to the appointing authority, or loses the right to appointment.
