Exam Pattern
Written exam: 100 objective questions in Hindi, 100 marks, 2 hours. One mark per right answer and no penalty for a wrong or skipped one.
| Section | Marks |
|---|---|
| General knowledge and reasoning | 40 |
| Intellectual ability and aptitude | 30 |
| Science and simple arithmetic | 30 |
Physical proficiency test: 100 marks, and you need at least 30 overall. The marks count towards your final score.
| Event | Max marks | Full marks for men |
|---|---|---|
| 800 m run (one attempt) | 40 | under 124.2 seconds |
| Long jump | 30 | 5.57 m or more |
| Shot put (7.26 kg for men) | 30 | 8.76 m or more |
A man running slower than 198.3 seconds scores nothing for the run. Women have their own, easier scale in the rulebook.
Eligibility Criteria
- Education: Class 10 pass. ST candidates need Class 8.
- Age on 6 October 2026: 18 to 33 for MP unreserved and EWS men and for everyone from outside MP; up to 38 for MP women, MP SC/ST/OBC men, and government, corporation and Home Guard staff. Outsiders can only apply for open unreserved posts.
- Home Guards need three years' active service on the closing date.

| Non-SAF ST men | 160 cm | 76 / 81 cm |
| Women (non-SAF) | 155 cm | not measured |
The chest must expand by at least 5 cm. There is no relaxation in any measurement.
Selection Process
- Written exam by MPESB.
- Seven times the vacancies in each category are called to the physical test and document check. SAF and non-SAF have separate cut-offs.
- Final merit adds written and physical test marks. Multi-shift scores are normalised by the Board's equi-percentile method.
- Posts and districts are allotted by merit and your preference list. Medical and character verification follow.
Home Guards get extra marks for service: 5 for up to five years, 10 for five to ten, 15 for over ten. Ex-servicemen, NCC "C" holders and other GAD priority groups get 5% added to the written score. You won't be posted to your home district and must stay five years in your first unit.
Salary
₹19,500 to ₹62,000. As for all new MP government recruits, the first three years are paid as a stipend of 70%, 80% and 90% of the starting pay. Contributory pension applies.

Preparation Tips
- There's no negative marking, so answer every question.
- The physical test is worth as much as the written paper. On the 800 m, every two seconds or so is a mark, so start running early.
- The GK section leans on Madhya Pradesh: districts, rivers, tribes, schemes.
- Practise with the 2025 Constable paper on the MPESB old papers page.
