Assistant Section Officer is a Group B office post at NVS headquarters and regional offices. It is filled rarely and in small numbers.
The last NVS round was the Direct Recruitment Drive 2024, with 5 ASO posts and applications through NTA until 14 May 2024. Archived copies of the NTA page up to August 2025 show no exam date. The combined KVS/NVS Notification 01/2025 included ASO only for KVS, with a different rule (three years as UDC).

Exam Pattern
The 2024 paper was a single 120-mark objective test of 2.5 hours, bilingual, with 0.25 deducted for a wrong answer.

Eligibility Criteria
In 2024: a bachelor's degree and three years of administrative or financial work in a Central Government office or a central autonomous body. Age 23 to 33, with the usual SC/ST/OBC/PwBD relaxations.
Salary
Level 6, ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400.
Important Dates
No NVS ASO vacancy is open. In 2024 the notice came out on 16 March and the window ran 22 March to 14 May. Watch the NVS site and the CBSE recruitment page for the next drive.
