NVS Stenographer Exam Pattern, Eligibility, Important Dates
173 topics across 6 subjects. Every question carries a written explanation.
NVS employs stenographers at its Noida headquarters and eight regional offices (the HQ/RO cadre), not in the schools. The post is Group C and is filled through NVS's own non-teaching drives.
The most recent call was Direct Recruitment Drive 2024 (Non-Teaching): 23 Stenographer posts, notified on 15 March 2024, with applications on NTA's portal until 14 May 2024. NVS has published no exam date, admit card or result for that drive, and the archived NTA page from August 2025 showed nothing past the application stage. The status is unclear, not cancelled on record.
The joint KVS and NVS Notification 01/2025 had Stenographer Grade I and II posts for KVS only. NVS asked for no stenographers in it.

The KVS stenographer posts of 2025 asked for a degree instead, so check the qualification afresh whenever NVS notifies again.

How to Apply
The fee in 2024 was ₹500 plus a ₹500 processing fee, ₹1,000 in all. SC, ST and PwBD candidates paid only the ₹500 processing fee. Applications went through NTA's portal, linked from the NVS recruitment page, and anyone eligible could apply for more than one post by paying for each.

Preparation Tips
- Shorthand decides this post. Practise 80 wpm dictation with full transcription on a computer, in the language you will choose.
- Half the written marks are computer basics and general awareness, so those are quick gains.
- The language part tests both English and Hindi, 20 questions each.
