OPSC PGT Syllabus, Exam Pattern, Eligibility

139 topics across 5 subjects. Every question carries a written explanation.

OPSC recruits Post Graduate Teachers (PGT), Group-B, for Odisha's government higher secondary schools under the School & Mass Education Department. A PGT teaches one subject at the +2 level.

The big recent round was Advertisement No. 25 of 2023-24: 1,375 posts in 23 subjects for 50 Government and 106 Upgraded Higher Secondary Schools. The written exams ran from September 2024 to January 2025, and final results came out subject by subject between June 2025 and February 2026. Economics was revised twice more, in April and September 2026. No new PGT advertisement has appeared since.

Earlier PGT rounds were advertised in 2017, 2019, March 2021 and late 2021, the last of them for 17 stand-alone higher secondary schools. The ST & SC Development Department's residential schools also hire science PGTs through OPSC, under separate advertisements.

Preparation Tips
  • Two of the three papers are your subject, so the Master's syllabus carries 200 of the 330 marks.
  • Negative marking applies to every paper. Leave a question blank rather than guess wildly.
  • The interview is only 30 marks; the written score decides most results.
  • OPSC's Previous Question Papers archive has earlier PGT papers.
