PSSSB School Librarian Exam Pattern, Eligibility
221 topics across 8 subjects. Every question carries a written explanation.
School Librarian is a Group C post in government schools, under the Director of School Education (Secondary), Punjab. The Subordinate Services Selection Board, Punjab (PSSSB) recruits for it at Pay Level 4, ₹25,500.
The last advertisement is No. 13 of 2022, published on 21 May 2022, for 57 School Librarian posts, all backlog vacancies, plus 2 Librarian posts in the Technical Education and Industrial Training Department. The exam was held on 30 October 2022, and the final merit list followed on 15 February 2023. An earlier round, Advertisement 04 of 2021, had its exam on 18 July 2021.
No School Librarian advertisement has appeared since. The Board's Librarian posts of 2025 (Advertisement 13 of 2025) are three posts in the technical education department, not in schools.

PSSSB School Librarian Details
Exam Pattern
The written test was objective type. The 2022 advertisement doesn't print the question count or marks, and said the syllabus and pattern would be uploaded on the Board's website before the exam. Since a Punjab notification of 28 October 2022, the Board's Group C exams carry a qualifying Punjabi paper at 50%, so a new round would too.
Eligibility Criteria
For School Librarian in 2022:
- A pass in 10+2 from a recognised university or institution.
- A two-year diploma course in Library Science. The advertisement's note also accepted candidates with a higher library degree (B.Lib or M.Lib).
- Matric-level Punjabi, as the state's service rules require.
The age limit was 18 to 37 on 1 January 2022, with 42 for SC and BC of Punjab, 45 for government employees, 47 for persons with disability of Punjab and 40 for widows and divorcees. Ex-servicemen get their service deducted from their age. Reservation was for Punjab residents.
Selection Process
Merit came from the written exam. The Board put up a combined merit list on 23 November 2022, held counselling, and published the final merit list on 15 February 2023.
Salary
₹25,500 a month, Pay Level 4, not counting allowances. The Technical Education Librarian post in the same advertisement paid ₹29,200 as per the 7th Pay Commission.
