RSMSSB Forest Guard Eligibility, Important Dates

The Forest Guard (Vanrakshak) is the entry-level field post of the Rajasthan Forest Department, filled by RSSB under the Rajasthan Forest Subordinate Service Rules, 2015.
A short notice of 17 July 2025 announced 483 Forest Guard posts alongside 259 Forester and 43 Surveyor posts. The Forester detailed advertisement followed in January 2026; a detailed Forest Guard advertisement, with dates and the exam scheme, had not been published by mid-October 2026.
The last completed round was Forest Guard 2020, with 2,646 posts.

RSMSSB Forest Guard Details
Eligibility Criteria
From the July 2025 short notice:
- Secondary (Class 10) or equivalent from any recognised board.
- Working Hindi in Devanagari and knowledge of Rajasthani culture.
- Age: 18 to 24 on 1 January 2026. That's a much lower upper limit than Forester (40).
Relaxations, physical standards and the exam scheme will be in the detailed advertisement. Unlike Forester, the short notice doesn't tie Forest Guard to CET.
Selection Process
In the 2020 round the Board called about twice the vacancies in each category for document verification, which the Forest Department ran, then selected on merit. Check the new advertisement for the physical test rules.
Salary
Pay Matrix Level 4, as given in the July 2025 notice.
How to Apply
Applications will be online through SSO Rajasthan and the Recruitment Portal once the detailed advertisement is out. You need a One Time Registration; its fee for Forester 2026 was ₹600 General and ₹400 for Rajasthan reserved categories and candidates with a disability.
