Exam Pattern
Two objective papers on OMR, each of 150 questions for 100 marks in 3 hours, at Class 10 level:
- Paper I: general knowledge (mostly Rajasthan), everyday science and mathematics
- Paper II: general Hindi and general English, 75 questions each
A wrong answer costs one third of that question's marks. Each question also has an option E for "not attempted"; skip all five bubbles and you lose the same third, skip more than 10% of the paper and you are out.
Phase II is a computer typing test in Hindi and English, speed and efficiency, 10 minutes and 25 marks each (100 in all). Minimums: 40% in each written paper, 36% in each typing paper, 5% lower for SC and ST.
Syllabus
Paper I covers current affairs; Rajasthan's geography, resources, agriculture, industry, history, culture, folk traditions and Panchayati Raj; Class 10 science (chemistry of everyday materials, light, electricity, space and IT, genetics, ecology, human health); and maths up to Class 10 (Vedic arithmetic, algebra, commercial maths, geometry, mensuration, trigonometry, statistics).
Paper II covers Hindi grammar, usage, idioms and office letters, and English grammar, vocabulary, translation, comprehension and official correspondence. The topic-by-topic list is in the advertisement, pages 24 to 27.
Eligibility Criteria
- Education: Class 12 pass plus one recognised computer qualification (RS-CIT, NIELIT CCC or O level, COPA/DPCS, a computer degree or diploma, or Class 12 with computer science), and knowledge of Hindi in Devanagari and of Rajasthani culture.
- CET: a qualifying CET (Senior Secondary level) 2024 score.
- Age: 18 to 40 on 1 January 2027. Add one year for the Administrative Reforms posts and three years for the Pollution Control Board posts. Category relaxations: 5 years for Rajasthan's reserved men and for general women, 10 years for Rajasthan's reserved women, 5 more for benchmark disability, no limit for widows and divorcees.
- Domicile: scheduled-area posts are only for bona fide residents of Rajasthan's scheduled area. Reserved candidates from other states are treated as general.
A man with more than one living wife, or anyone with more than two children on or after 1 June 2002, cannot be appointed.
Selection Process
Written exam, then a typing test for about three candidates per post in each category, then document verification. Rank is the total of both phases.
The department you get depends on your rank and the order in which you listed post codes 1 to 6 on the form. Most Junior Assistant posts are code 2: the Board sends those selectees to the Administrative Reforms Department, which then decides the office. Mandi committee, Agricultural Marketing Board and Pollution Control Board posts are allotted directly.
Salary
Pay Matrix Level 5 under the state's 7th Pay Commission rules. The first two years are probation on a fixed monthly amount without HRA, DA or other allowances; full Level 5 pay follows confirmation.
How to Apply
Apply on sso.rajasthan.gov.in via the Recruitment Portal, with your CET application number ready. The one-time registration fee is ₹600 for general candidates and ₹400 for Rajasthan's reserved categories and all disabled candidates; it is paid once for all RSSB exams. Fill the post-code preference carefully, since it cannot be changed later.
