RSMSSB Livestock Assistant Syllabus, Exam Pattern
112 topics across 3 subjects. Every question carries a written explanation.
RSMSSB Livestock Assistant (Pashudhan Sahayak) is recruitment by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB), Jaipur, for the Animal Husbandry Department, Government of Rajasthan.
It runs under two sets of rules at once:
- the Rajasthan Animal Husbandry Subordinate Service Rules, 1977, as amended; and
- the Rajasthan Scheduled Areas Subordinate, Ministerial and Class IV Service (Recruitment and Other Conditions of Service) Rules, 2014.
So vacancies split into a Non-Scheduled Area pool and a Scheduled Area pool. In the last cycle that was 2,252 and 288 posts.
The count went up while applications were open
Advertisement No. 15/2024, dated 11 December 2024, notified 2,041 posts (1,820 Non-Scheduled Area, 221 Scheduled Area), with applications from 31 January to 1 March 2025.
After a revised requisition from the department, RSSB issued a corrigendum raising the total to 2,540 posts (2,252 and 288) and reissuing the category-wise classification. That's 499 more posts, about a quarter, mid-cycle. All other conditions stayed the same. Watch rssb.rajasthan.gov.in rather than relying on a number you noted at the start.

Exam Pattern
RSSB publishes the scheme and syllabus (yojana aur pathyakram) as a separate document for each recruitment year, under Downloads on its site. It changes between years, so take the one matched to your advertisement number.
The 15/2024 detailed advertisement is a scan that couldn't be transcribed, so no question count or marks are given here. Figures on coaching sites are reconstructions.
The Non-Scheduled Area and Scheduled Area posts are separate pools under different rules. You compete within your pool and category combination, not against the state total.
Syllabus
The Board issues the syllabus in its standalone scheme and syllabus document for each recruitment, and revises it between cycles. An older year's syllabus may not match your paper.
- Note your advertisement number and year (15/2024 last cycle).
- Open the Board's Downloads section.
- Take the Livestock Assistant scheme and syllabus for that recruitment.
Livestock Assistant is a field post in the Animal Husbandry Department. Its duties, qualification and service conditions come from the Rajasthan Animal Husbandry Subordinate Service Rules, 1977, as amended.
Eligibility Criteria
Qualification, age and relaxations are set in each cycle's detailed advertisement, under the Rajasthan Animal Husbandry Subordinate Service Rules, 1977 and, for Scheduled Area posts, the Scheduled Areas Rules, 2014. The last one is a scan, so no figures are given here and figures elsewhere aren't transcriptions. Read the advertisement for your cycle.
Know your exact category combination
Within each vertical category (General, SC, ST, OBC, MBC, EWS) the Board separates:
- General (open within that category)
- General women
- Widows (vidhwa)
- Divorced or deserted women (parityakta)
Widows and divorced or deserted women have their own post counts, separate from the general women's quota.
Horizontal reservation
- Persons with disability, by type: LV, D and HH in one group; OL, Dw and Aav in another.
- Ex-servicemen, by vertical category: GEN, SC, ST, OBC, MBC and EWS.
- Outstanding sportspersons.
The Sahariya quota
Posts are reserved for the Sahariya primitive tribe of Baran district as a separate line. Last cycle it had 20 backlog posts (14 male, 5 general women, 1 widow) on top of its regular allocation.
Selection Process
A written exam conducted by the Board, then document verification, against the vacancies in the pool and category combination you applied under. Papers, marks, duration and marking are in the Board's scheme and syllabus document.
Regular and backlog posts
Horizontal reservation is published as regular and backlog posts, then totalled. Backlog is a big share: last cycle, in the Non-Scheduled Area pool, each disability group had 30 regular and 16 backlog posts, and General ex-servicemen had 103 regular and 54 backlog. Backlog posts are filled from the category they were carried forward for, so real competition in a category can differ from the headline number.
How to Apply
Apply online through the Board's portal within the window in the advertisement. The fee, payment route and correction facility are set per advertisement; the last one is a scan, so no fee is given here.
Claim your category correctly
You're considered only against the pool, category, sub-category and horizontal category you claim, and each claim needs its certificate. If you qualify for a widow or divorced-woman sub-quota, the Sahariya line, an ex-servicemen line or a disability line and don't claim it, you compete in a bigger field for fewer posts.
Important Dates
RSSB advertises Livestock Assistant when the Animal Husbandry Department sends a requisition, not on a calendar. New notices appear under Advertisements on rssb.rajasthan.gov.in.
| Stage | Detail |
|---|---|
| Advertisement No. 15/2024 | 11 December 2024 |
| Posts notified | 2,041: 1,820 Non-Scheduled Area, 221 Scheduled Area |
| Online applications | 31 January – 1 March 2025 |
| Revised requisition from the department | Director's letter of 30 January 2025 |
| Corrigendum, revised classification | 2,540 posts: 2,252 Non-Scheduled Area, 288 Scheduled Area |
The revised requisition is dated the day before applications opened; the corrigendum came out during the window. Only the vacancy classification changed.
Result
Results, answer keys, objection windows and select lists appear under Results on rssb.rajasthan.gov.in, against the advertisement number. Results are drawn separately for each pool, category and sub-category.
Corrigenda to a live recruitment, like the mid-window reclassification here, appear on the same site and nowhere else.
Cut Off
No cut-offs are given here. They're drawn separately for each combination of:
- pool: Non-Scheduled Area or Scheduled Area;
- vertical category: General, SC, ST, OBC, MBC, EWS, or the Baran Sahariya line;
- sub-category: general, general women, widow, or divorced/deserted woman;
- horizontal category: disability by type, ex-servicemen by category, or outstanding sportspersons;
- and regular or backlog posts within horizontal reservation.
That makes dozens of thresholds, so a figure without its full combination tells you nothing. The Board publishes cut-offs with the result under Results on its site, against the advertisement number.
