The live 2026-27 post is a single OBC vacancy earmarked for a person with a disability, inside a backlog advertisement of 47 posts that are all SC, ST or OBC. Unreserved candidates can't apply.

The 43-post cycle took a long time. The post was first advertised as I-34/G/Rectt/2021-22; those applicants were carried into the 2023-24 advertisement without reapplying. The paper was on 15 and 16 December 2023, and appointment letters came in three lists between January and July 2025.

A B.Pharm alone won't do. The essential qualification is a Diploma in Pharmacy plus registration under the Pharmacy Act 1948. A degree is only "desirable".

Exam Pattern

The same scheme applies to every post in an advertisement. The Examination Cell restated it for 2026-27 in a notice of 1 June 2026.

ComponentMarks
Core subject related to the post, at the level of the qualification required60
General English10
General Knowledge10
Reasoning10
Mathematical Aptitude10
Total100
  • Computer Based Test, multiple choice, 2 hours.
  • English only.
  • Minimum qualifying marks: 50 per cent for General, EWS and OBC; 45 per cent for SC and ST. The 2026-27 backlog has only OBC, SC and ST rows.
  • Negative marking: the 2023-24 advertisement deducted one third of a mark per wrong answer. The 2026-27 advertisement doesn't state a figure yet, so check the scheme notice for your cycle.

Ties, in order

  1. Total marks.
  2. Older candidate first.
  3. Fewer wrong answers.
  4. Higher marks in the core section.
  5. Earlier application number.

If a post is examined in more than one shift, scores are normalized to the shift with the highest average, unless that shift is much smaller; no shift under 70 per cent of average attendance can be the base. The 2023-24 Pharmacist paper ran over two days, so this applied.

Admit Card

Download the admit card from sgpgims.org.in with your registration or application number and date of birth. It isn't posted, and it shows your centre and reporting time. You only get one once the bank has adjusted your fee.

An admit card doesn't confirm eligibility; that's checked at document verification. For 2023-24 the Institute put up a mock test link three days before the paper. Keep your application number and password: you need them for every later stage.

Result

Results come in stages on the recruitment archive: roll-wise provisional marks within days (15 and 17 December 2023), a corrigendum (23 December 2023), provisional selection (12 March 2024), the document verification list (27 November 2024), then appointment letter lists:

PublishedLettersWhat the file says
25 January 20253332 appointment letters and 1 clarification letter; headed for the examination of 15 December 2023
14 May 20259All recorded "Eligible & Selected", appointment letter issued; published alongside lists for Advt. I/48
12 July 20254All appointment letters; headed for the examination of 15 and 16 December 2023

See the first, second and third lists. None is in rank order and none shows scores. The Institute doesn't say whether later lists add to or replace earlier ones. Ages ranged from 20 years 10 months to 43 years 10 months, and four of the 46 letters went to women.

A clarification letter isn't a rejection. The Review Selection Committee list of 6 March 2025 named those found eligible.

Cut Off

No cut-off has been published for Pharmacist Grade-II. The Institute's Merit List cut-off file of 19 May 2024 covers the other I/28 posts but has no row for I/28/3.

Preparation Tips

Check the qualification first. D.Pharm plus Pharmacy Act registration on the decisive date. Nobody checks before the exam, so a gap only shows up after you've passed.

Bank the aptitude 40. Both halves count towards the 50 or 45 per cent floor, and the aptitude syllabus is the same every cycle.

Revise your D.Pharm notes for Part B, and don't skip drug store management and hospital pharmacy: ABC and VED analysis, lead time, safety stock, economic order quantity, unit dose, floor ward stock, satellite pharmacy, the formulary, drug information bulletins. They're the heads closest to the job.

Learn the named crude drugs in pharmacognosy: aloes, rhubarb, castor oil, ispaghula and senna as laxatives; digitalis and arjuna as cardiotonics; rauwolfia, vinca, chaulmoogra oil, cinchona, ergot. Named lists become one-line questions.

Don't guess blind under a one-third penalty; guess once you've ruled out an option. Confirm the penalty in your cycle's scheme notice.

Use the official mock when the Institute posts it, and read the document verification checklist early so you know which certificates you're missing.

Sample Papers

No previous year papers or answer keys are available for SGPGI Pharmacist. SGPGIMS doesn't release them.

It does publish the Part B and Part A syllabi with each advertisement, and roll-wise provisional marks a few days after the paper, on its recruitment archive. For 2023-24 it also posted a mock test link three days before the exam.
