Arts or commerce 10+2 doesn't qualify. Your result must have been declared, not just processed, by the closing date. Distance learning qualifications count only if the UGC's Distance Education Bureau recognised them for the period you studied.

You'll also need to pass a computer test later: 1,000 key depressions in 15 minutes in English, plus basic computer functions.

No relaxations beyond the Standing Order and the Delhi Police (Appointment and Recruitment) Rules, 1980. No PwD reservation.

Sons and daughters of serving, retired or deceased Delhi Police staff (not dismissed or removed as a penalty) get 5 cm off the height standard, and sons 5 cm off chest. Those who are also SC, ST, OBC or from a hill area must pick one relaxation.

Selection Process

SSC runs the notice, applications and the CBE. The Delhi Police runs everything after: PE&MT, trade test, computer test, documents, medical, vacancies and the reserve panel. Complaints about those stages go to the Delhi Police.

Candidates up to twenty times the vacancies in each category are called to the PE&MT, plus everyone tied on the cut-off.

Physical Endurance Test, at Delhi only

Race first, then long jump and high jump, three chances each.

No appeal against failing any of the three. An earlier disqualification in this exam stands even if you hide it and pass later. Pregnant women, or those within six months of a delivery or 45 days of a miscarriage, are declared temporarily unfit, their result held in a sealed cover with the vacancy reserved, and re-tested six weeks after confinement ends.

Physical measurement

StandardMale candidates

Chest 81 cm to 85 cm, with a minimum of 4 cm expansion, relaxable by 5 cm
StandardFemale candidates

The 5 cm relaxation applies to hill-area residents (Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas, and people from Sikkim, the North-East states, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir and Leh and Ladakh, with a certificate from the DC, DM, SDM or Tehsildar) and to wards of Delhi Police staff (certificate from the DCP, Additional DCP or ACP). Height and chest can be appealed, with re-measurement the same day.

Trade test

Dictation in Hindi and English: more than 50 per cent mistakes in either disqualifies. Reading a passage aloud in both languages, videographed. It's compulsory.

Computer proficiency test

Type a 200-word English passage in MS Word at 1,000 key depressions in 15 minutes, judged on accuracy, and show basic functions: opening and closing a PC, printing, MS Office, saving and editing text, paragraphs and numbering.

Medical

Better eye 6/6 without glasses; worse eye 6/36, correctable to 6/9 or 6/12.

Final list

Drawn category-wise on CBE marks plus bonus marks alone. SC, ST and OBC candidates selected on merit without relaxed standards take unreserved seats. SSC also prepares a 15 per cent reserve panel, sent to the Delhi Police in a sealed cover and not published.

Salary

Group 'C', Pay Level-4 of the 7th CPC matrix: ₹25,500 to ₹81,100. ₹25,500 is the starting basic pay, before DA, Delhi HRA, transport allowance and Delhi Police allowances, and before NPS and health scheme deductions. The notice gives only the pay level.

The posting is in the Delhi Police, handling police communications.

Participating Institutes

The employer is the Delhi Police. The recruitment runs under its Standing Order No. HRD/06/2022 and an MoU with SSC. SSC publishes the vacancies the Delhi Police reports and has no say in them or the reservation roster.

The notice advertised 370 male and 182 female posts. The revised position of 25 February 2026:

Departmental posts are filled from confirmed Delhi Police Constables, not open applicants. Ex-servicemen get 10 per cent, on the male side only.

Exam Centres

The CBE is held across India, in Hindi and English, with centres based on where applications come from. You choose centres in the form and can't change them later; SSC can move you. In 2025 SSC offered self slot selection for the four Delhi Police exams on 4 December 2025.

The PE&MT is in Delhi only, at three centres including the Delhi Police Academy, and so are the trade test, computer test, documents and medical. On PE&MT day you report to a holding area, wear an RFID tag for the race, and have your documents collected and checked on the spot. Appeals on height and chest are heard there the same day. Watch ssc.gov.in and delhipolice.gov.in.

Age is reckoned on 1 July 2025; qualification, bonus certificates and category on the closing date. PE&MT and later dates are set by the Delhi Police and posted on both websites.

Admit Card

The CBE admit card comes from SSC on ssc.gov.in, after a city intimation. The PE&MT admit card is scheduled by the Delhi Police but downloaded through SSC's link, with a notice on delhipolice.gov.in.

Documents are checked at the PE&MT, so bring them there: category and relaxation certificates in the notice's formats, any hill-area or police-ward certificate, original NCC or RRU certificates (or no bonus), and your 10+2 or NTC mark sheets.

Result

SSC publishes tentative answer keys with the question paper and response sheet (5 February 2026 this cycle), then the CBE result, and finally the overall result, on ssc.gov.in with parallel notices on delhipolice.gov.in.

Vacancies fell after the notice:

Male, as notifiedMale, revisedFemale, as notified Female, revised
Open285226163132
Ex-servicemen4942nonenone
Departmental36291914
Total370297 182146

That's 109 fewer posts, from 552 to 443, which pushes the written cut-off up because the PE&MT shortlist is twenty times the vacancies.

Cut Off

SSC publishes category-wise cut-offs with each result on ssc.gov.in. None is published in advance.

The real bar is the merit range of twenty times the vacancies in each category, not the 40, 35 or 30 per cent floor. Cut-offs are on normalised marks plus bonus marks, so don't compare them directly with a raw score from the answer key. An NCC 'C' certificate is worth five marks here.

Preparation Tips

Win it in the written paper. Only the CBE ranks you; the later stages only knock you out.

Take General Science seriously. It's 25 marks and no other Delhi Police paper has it. Physics and chemistry only, with electronics, Ohm's law, fibre optics and communication topics.

Maths is 12th standard. Trigonometry, sequence and series, and permutation and combination are in. Reasoning includes banking-style topics: input-output, coded inequalities, data sufficiency. Generic Delhi Police material won't cover these; the Head Constable (Ministerial) paper has an English section and no General Science.

Learn the computer part once, use it twice. Part-E maps onto the later computer proficiency test. Typing 1,000 key depressions in 15 minutes is about 67 a minute, judged on accuracy.

Practise dictation and reading aloud in both languages. Over 50 per cent mistakes in either fails you. Work on your weaker language.

Train for the race early. 1600 m in 7 minutes for men, 800 m in 5 minutes for women up to 30, with no appeal.

Get bonus certificates ready. NCC 'C' is 5 per cent, 'B' 3 per cent and 'A' 2 per cent; a Rashtriya Raksha University degree or PG diploma counts 5 per cent with distinction, down to 2 per cent for a pass.

Sample Papers

SSC publishes the actual question paper with the tentative answer keys and your response sheet, for a limited window after the exam (5 February 2026 for this cycle). Download it while it's up. It has also published detailed marks for earlier cycles (the 2022 cycle on 1 February 2024).

Look under Previous Year Question Papers in the For Candidates menu on ssc.gov.in, and watch for the mock test notice before each exam.
