SCT is Stipendiary Cadet Trainee. A selected candidate joins as a cadet trainee on a stipend and is appointed to the regular post only after induction training.
The Board's press note of 8 September gives the scale: of 3,38,336 registered candidates, 2,88,530 had paid and 2,76,085 had submitted, between them 3,80,762 candidatures. Women were close to a quarter of them.
Four firsts, and three things this recruitment does not do
The Board names four changes in this cycle: one third of the posts reserved for women in every Special Protection Force and Fire Services post; sub-classification of Scheduled Caste reservation into Groups I, II and III under Act No. 15 of 2025; and Aadhaar face authentication with offline verification alongside, done for more than 95 per cent of candidates by early September.
- The Preliminary Written Test does not count towards selection. It screens.
- There is no chest measurement. Height is the only physical measurement.
- There is no waiting list and no sliding. A seat that falls vacant lapses.
And a standing caution: the vacancy numbers are tentative and liable to change without notice, and the Board may notify modifications to any aspect of the recruitment while it runs. This cycle has already used that power three times over the age limit.

Exam Pattern
The Preliminary Written Test
| Constable level | Sub Inspector level | |
|---|---|---|
| Paper | One, 200 questions for 200 marks, three hours, objective, on an OMR sheet in blue or black ball point pen | |
| Composition | 200 questions | 100 Arithmetic and Reasoning, 100 General Studies |
| Qualifying marks | 30 per cent OC including EWS, 25 per cent BC, 20 per cent SC, ST and Ex-Servicemen, with Home Guards at 20 per cent on the constable notification | |
| Negative marking | 20 per cent of full marks for a wrong answer. A blank scores zero | |
| Languages | English-Telugu and English-Urdu. Where a translation is ambiguous, the English version is final | |
On a 200 mark paper of 200 questions each wrong answer costs 0.2, so five wrong answers wipe out one correct one. That is lighter than the one third several state boards use and far heavier than nothing, and it makes guessing across a whole paper negative-expectation. Where a question is deleted in the final key, candidates are compensated in proportion to the percentage of marks obtained on the remaining questions; nobody simply gets the mark.
There is no Preliminary Written Test for Constable (Mechanic), Constable (Driver) or ASI Finger Print Bureau. Those candidates go to the physical tests directly after the Part II application.
The Final Written Examination at constable level
One paper of three hours, 200 objective questions, graded for 200 marks on Post Codes 21, 26, 27 and 28 and for 100 marks on Post Codes 22, 23 and 25. The same questions are set for every post code; only the scale differs, because the posts where the run carries 100 marks grade the paper out of 100 to match. Qualifying marks are 40 per cent OC and EWS, 35 per cent BC, 30 per cent SC, ST and Ex-Servicemen, and the constable notification's notes on this paper prescribe no negative marking.
The Final Written Examination at sub inspector level
| Paper | Subject | Post Codes 11, 17, 18, 19 | Post Codes 12 to 14 and 16 |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | English. Part A objective 25, Part B descriptive 75 | 100 | 100 |
| II | Telugu or Urdu. Part A objective 25, Part B descriptive 75 | 100 | 100 |
| III | Arithmetic and Test of Reasoning, 200 questions | 200 | 100 |
| IV | General Studies, 200 questions | 200 | 100 |
Four papers of three hours each, two of them descriptive. Papers I and II are qualifying and their marks do not enter the final selection, so they can end a candidacy but never improve a rank: miss the qualifying mark in either and you are out whatever Papers III and IV look like. Their objective halves carry a 25 per cent penalty for a wrong answer, a quarter rather than the preliminary's fifth. Paper II is Telugu or Urdu at the candidate's choice, and the option once exercised is final.
The technical and fingerprint posts
Constable (Mechanic) and (Driver) take a Trade Test of 100 marks over ten parameters or a Driving Test of 100 marks over eight, minimum 50, then one objective technical paper of 200 questions for 200 marks in three hours, set in English only. Merit is the practical test plus the written paper. A candidate who scores below the prescribed minimum in three or more parameters fails even if the aggregate reaches 50. Both tests are run by a committee drawn from the Police Transport Organization, the Road Transport Corporation and the Road Transport Authority.
ASI Finger Print Bureau takes three papers: Paper I English (Part A objective, 50 questions, 25 marks, 45 minutes; Part B descriptive, 75 marks, 2 hours 15 minutes), qualifying only with a 25 per cent penalty on the objective part; Paper II Arithmetic and Reasoning, 200 questions for 100 marks; and Paper III, a Technical Paper of 200 questions for 200 marks. Merit is Papers II and III.
Syllabus
The constable syllabus, at Intermediate standard
Published as Annexure II for the preliminary and Annexure III for the final examination, each objective, 200 questions, Intermediate standard.
| Topic | Preliminary | Final |
|---|---|---|
| English | Yes | Yes |
| Arithmetic | Yes | Yes |
| General Science | Yes | Yes |
| History of India, Indian culture, Indian National Movement | Yes | Yes |
| Principles of Geography, Indian Geography, Polity and Economy | Yes | Yes |
| Current events of national and international importance | Yes | Yes |
| Test of Reasoning / Mental Ability | Yes | Yes |
| Contents pertaining to the State of Telangana | Yes | Yes |
| Personality test: ethics, sensitivity to gender and weaker sections, social awareness, emotional intelligence | – | Yes |
The two syllabi are identical but for the last row, and that row is not an interview: it is objective questions on ethics, gender and social sensitivity, social awareness and emotional intelligence, set in the same paper.
Two heads shape the preparation. Principles of Geography sits alongside Indian Geography, so the paper expects physical geography as a subject rather than place knowledge alone. And Contents pertaining to the State of Telangana is a head in its own right in both papers, the one area where material written for another state's police examination is no use.
A footnote to both annexures: the English Language questions are set in English only, in the Telugu and Urdu versions of the paper too. Choosing a regional medium does not remove them.
The sub inspector syllabus
Split across four papers rather than one list. Papers I and II are language papers, each with an objective part and a descriptive part covering precis writing, letters or reports, essays, topical paragraphs and reading comprehension. Paper III is Arithmetic and Reasoning, Paper IV General Studies, and only those two count towards merit.
The ASI Finger Print Bureau technical paper
The eligibility matches the paper: a B.E. or B.Tech in Information Technology or Computer Science, including specialisations in Artificial Intelligence, AI and Machine Learning, Data Science, Networks, Cyber Security or the Internet of Things, or a BSc in Computer Science or Computer Application.
Paper III covers computer hardware, with computer architecture, PC assembling, installation, troubleshooting and viruses; the memory system, with the memory hierarchy, ROM, RAM, DRAM, storage devices, RAID and its levels, high speed memories, the CPU and NIC cards; computer peripherals; and then computer software, beginning with operating systems.
The Mechanic and Driver technical papers
Each is a 200 question objective paper for 200 marks, published as Annexures I and II of that notification and set in English only. The practical tests that precede them show what is tested. For the Mechanic: tappet clearance and cylinder head nut tightening sequence, hub setting with a dial gauge, clutch master and slave cylinders, gearbox selector mechanism, feed pump and injector testing, kingpin play, air lock in rotary and inline FIP systems, valve and injector timing, and brake adjustment with manual and automatic slack adjusters. For the Driver: road sense and control in all traffic conditions, use of brakes, parking and reversing, road and traffic signals, minor repairs and breakdowns, motor vehicle mechanism and preventive maintenance.
On books, the Board says only that it prescribes no particular textbook or publication and is not bound by the material in any, and that on a disputed question or answer the Subject Expert Committee's decision is final.
Eligibility Criteria
Who may apply, by sex
| Open to | Post codes |
|---|---|
| Men and women | 21, 22, 25, 26 (Constable Civil and AR, SPF Constable, Fire Fighter); 11, 12, 16, 17 (SI Civil, RSI AR, SI in SPF, Station Fire Officer); 33 (ASI Finger Print Bureau) |
| Men only | 23, 27 (SAR CPL, Warder Male); 13, 14, 18 (RSI SAR CPL, RSI TGSP, Deputy Jailor Men); 35, 36 (Constable Mechanic and Driver) |
| Women only | 28 (Warder Female) and 19 (Deputy Jailor Women) |
Age, raised three times in this cycle
Anyone who read the notification in July and concluded they were too old should read it again. The Government has raised the notified limits by order three separate times since May 2026.
| Government order | Dated | Raise | Applies to |
|---|---|---|---|
| G.O. Ms. No. 87 | 18 May 2026 | 5 years | Direct recruitment to uniformed services in Police, Fire Services, Prisons and SPF. Written into the notifications themselves |
| G.O. Ms. No. 122 | 14 August 2026 | 2 further years | All four notifications, by the Supplementary Notification of 15 August 2026 |
| G.O. Ms. No. 129 | 9 September 2026 | 3 further years | Constable and equivalent posts only, expressly excluding Police Constable (Driver), by the Second Supplementary Notification of 10 September 2026 |
| Post | Notified limits as on 1 July 2026 | Total raise |
|---|---|---|
| Constable and equivalent, Post Codes 21 to 28, and Constable (Mechanic) | 18 to 22 years | 10 years |
| Constable (Driver), Post Code 36 | 21 to 25 years | 7 years, excluded from the third raise |
| Sub Inspector and equivalent, and ASI Finger Print Bureau | 21 to 25 years | 7 years |
The Board warns about the consequence: because the relaxations differ, age is not validated in the online form. Checking it is the candidate's job, and an under-aged or over-aged candidature is rejected at any time with the fee not refunded.
Two special rules sit on top. A Home Guard who, as on the date of notification, has done at least 360 days of duty within two years and is still serving may be up to 40 under the notified limits. Widows, divorced women and women judicially separated who have not remarried may be 40 for SC and ST and 35 for all others, on a death certificate with a notarised affidavit of non-remarriage, or a certified copy of the decree with the same affidavit.
| Category | Relaxation on the notified limit |
|---|---|
| SC, ST, BC and EWS | 5 years |
| Telangana State Government employees. Staff of TSTRANSCO, the DISCOMs, TSGENCO, the RTC, other state corporations, municipalities, local bodies and PSUs are not entitled | Length of regular service, maximum 5 years |
| Ex-Servicemen, and NCC Instructors with at least 6 months as a whole time Cadet Corps Instructor | 3 years in addition to the length of service |
Beyond these, the age limits cannot be relaxed. Age and name come from one document only: the Secondary School Certificate, Matriculation or equivalent. Horoscopes, affidavits, municipal birth extracts and service records are all refused.
Educational qualification, as on 29 July 2026
| Post | Required |
|---|---|
| Constable and equivalent, Post Codes 21 to 28 | Intermediate or equivalent recognised by the State Government. Fire Fighter additionally needs a valid LMV driving licence |
| Sub Inspector and equivalent, Post Codes 11 to 19 | A degree from a university established by a Central or State Act or a UGC-recognised institution. A distance or open university degree must be recognised by the UGC, AICTE or the Distance Education Council, and the onus of proving recognition is the candidate's |
| Constable (Mechanic), Post Code 35 | SSC or equivalent with an ITI certificate in Auto Electrician, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Mechanic Diesel or Fitter |
| Constable (Driver), Post Code 36 | Intermediate, or SSC with one of those four ITI trades, plus a valid HPMV and HGV or Transport Vehicle licence, still valid at the driving test |
| ASI Finger Print Bureau, Post Code 33 | B.E. or B.Tech in IT or Computer Science, including AI, AI and Machine Learning, Data Science, Networks, Cyber Security or IoT specialisations, or a BSc in Computer Science or Computer Application |
A higher qualification than prescribed is treated on par. The certificate must bear a date on or before 29 July 2026, and anything produced after the last day of certificate verification is not taken into consideration.
Medical standards
6/6 distant vision and 0/5 (Snellen) near vision in each eye, with a full field of vision in each. Colour blindness, squint or any morbid condition of the eye or lids is a disqualification, as are knock-knees, pigeon chest, flat foot, varicose veins, hammer toes, fractured limbs, decayed teeth, stammering, hard of hearing and abnormal psychological behaviour.
Provisionally selected candidates are examined at the District Headquarters Hospital, referred where necessary to Osmania or Gandhi Hospital and in eye matters to the Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital, whose opinion is final. A candidate may be referred only once, and there is no re-examination, so take the Board's advice and see a Civil Surgeon before applying. Candidates with tattoos are eligible, subject to the tattoo not being a disqualification under the selection procedure.
Selection Process
- Preliminary Written Test, 200 marks. Screening only.
- Physical Efficiency and Physical Measurement Tests: run, then height, then long jump and shot put.
- Final Written Examination, one paper at constable level, four at sub inspector level.
- Certificates verification, then antecedents verification and the medical examination.
The technical posts skip the preliminary and insert a Trade Test or Driving Test between the physical tests and the written paper. ASI Finger Print Bureau has no preliminary either.
The physical tests, in an order that is not the usual one
The run comes first. Height is measured only on candidates who have already qualified in the run, and the jumping and throwing events come last. So a candidate who fails the mile is sent home without being measured.
| Candidate | Event | Maximum time |
|---|---|---|
| Men | 1,600 metres | 7 minutes 15 seconds |
| Ex-Servicemen | 1,600 metres | 9 minutes 30 seconds |
| Women | 800 metres | 5 minutes 20 seconds |
Timing is by RFID: competitors run independently of each other, start time, finish time and duration are recorded individually, a curved rather than staggered start is used where there are lanes, and readings are rounded to two decimal places.
| Height | General | Agency areas |
|---|---|---|
| Men, constable and sub inspector posts | 167.6 cm | 160 cm |
| Women, constable and sub inspector posts | 152.5 cm | 150 cm |
| Men, Constable (Mechanic) and (Driver), and ASI Finger Print Bureau | 162 cm | 160 cm |
| Women, ASI Finger Print Bureau | 152.5 cm | 150 cm |
The relaxed figures go to Scheduled Tribes and Aboriginal Tribes in the Agency areas of Adilabad, Komarambheem-Asifabad, Mancherial, Nagarkurnool, Khammam, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Mulugu, Mahabubabad and Warangal districts. The Board's FAQ answers the obvious follow-up: there is no height relaxation for SC, ST or BC candidates as such. And note what is not measured: these notifications prescribe no chest measurement and no chest expansion.
Long jump is 4 metres for men, 3.50 for Ex-Servicemen and 2.50 for women; shot put is 6 metres with a 7.26 kg shot for men and 4 metres with a 4 kg shot for women. Both are qualifying for every post and carry no marks.
The run does carry marks, for some posts
For Post Codes 21, 26, 27, 28 and 11, 17, 18, 19 the run is qualifying only. For Post Codes 22, 23, 25 and 12, 13, 14, 16 it is scored out of 100 on the gradation table at Annexure I.
| Men, 1,600 m | Women, 800 m | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| 4:15 and less | 3:05 and less | 100 |
| 4:16 to 4:35 | 3:06 to 3:20 | 95 |
| 4:36 to 4:55 | 3:21 to 3:35 | 90 |
| 4:56 to 5:15 | 3:36 to 3:50 | 85 |
| 5:16 to 5:35 | 3:51 to 4:05 | 80 |
| 5:36 to 5:55 | 4:06 to 4:20 | 75 |
| 5:56 to 6:15 | 4:21 to 4:35 | 70 |
| 6:16 to 6:35 | 4:36 to 4:50 | 65 |
| 6:36 to 6:55 | 4:51 to 5:05 | 60 |
| 6:56 to 7:15 | 5:06 to 5:20 | 50 |
| 7:16 to 8:30, Ex-Servicemen only | – | 40 |
| 8:31 to 9:30, Ex-Servicemen only | – | 30 |
A man who scrapes in at 7:15 scores 50; one who runs the mile in 4:15 scores 100. On a post where the run is half the final score, that is a fifty mark spread inside three minutes.
For Post Codes 22 and 25, and 12 and 16, the marks men and women score in the run are normalized by a formula in the notification, working on standard deviations and means across all qualified candidates, all qualified candidates of the same sex, and the top 0.1 per cent or top 10 candidates, whichever is higher, in each group. The normalized marks are what enter the final merit, rounded to three decimal places.
A candidate applying for several of the Board's posts sits the physical test once, and the same readings are used for every post applied for among notifications issued within three months; the saving comes back as a fee rebate. There are no second chances on the day: candidates must be fit at all stages, and no postponement or reconsideration of stages is allowed under any circumstances.
Certificates verification and after
Candidates who qualify in the Final Written Examination produce original documents with two sets of photocopies on the day of verification itself. Failure to produce them, or a mismatch with the online application, means rejection without further correspondence. Selection stays provisional through antecedents verification and the medical examination.
Someone already in government or public sector employment can join training only after being relieved or resigning, well before training starts. Failing to submit the attestation form, produce documents, attend the medical or join on the date fixed cancels the provisional selection without notice. If training is postponed so long that the original batch's probation is declared, the candidate takes the Physical Efficiency Test again as it then stands, and appointment to the regular post follows only on completing induction training.
Salary
| Rank | Pay scale |
|---|---|
| Sub Inspector and Reserve Sub Inspector, Police and SPF | ₹42,300 to ₹1,15,270 |
| Station Fire Officer, Deputy Jailor | ₹38,890 to ₹1,12,510 |
| Assistant Sub Inspector, Finger Print Bureau | ₹33,750 to ₹99,310 |
| Police Constable and equivalent, including SPF Constable, Fire Fighter and Warder | ₹24,280 to ₹72,850 |
The Board's press note of 8 September 2026 puts the starting annual salary including house rent allowance, approximately, at:
| Rank | Minimum | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Sub Inspector, Police or SPF | ₹7,33,990 | ₹7,99,980 |
| Sub Inspector equivalent in other departments | ₹6,74,820 | ₹7,35,490 |
| Assistant Sub Inspector, Finger Print Bureau | ₹5,85,640 | ₹6,38,280 |
| Police Constable and equivalent | ₹4,21,310 | ₹4,59,180 |
Those are figures for the salary on appointment, or on completion of the stipendiary training period, not the stipend during training. The same press note names medical treatment for the employee and dependent family, welfare loans for house building and for children's education and marriages, risk allowances of up to 50 to 60 per cent of salary in high risk units, and compensation for job related injury.
During institutional training, regular or extended, candidates on Post Codes 21 to 23 and 25 draw a stipend fixed by the Government from time to time; the notification does not state the figure, and none is invented here. Appointment to the regular post follows successful completion of training.
On pension: employees appointed on or after 1 September 2004 are covered by the Contributory Pension Scheme, not the Revised Pension Rules, 1980.
How to Apply
| Mode | Online only, at tgprb.in. An application by any other mode is summarily rejected |
| Opened | 8 a.m. on Wednesday 19 August 2026 |
| Originally closed | 5 p.m. on 9 September 2026 |
| Extended to | 5 p.m. on Wednesday 16 September 2026 |
| Level | SC and ST local to Telangana | All others |
|---|---|---|
| Sub Inspector level, and ASI Finger Print Bureau | ₹750 | ₹1,500 |
| Constable level, including Driver and Mechanic | ₹600 | ₹1,200 |
It is a single one time fee covering the whole process, from the application through the physical test to certificate verification. There are five Common Procedure Regimens, and a candidate applying across more than one gets a rebate of ₹100 per additional regimen (₹50 for SC and ST), because the physical test is held only once. Nothing is refundable or transferable.
How the application works
It comes in two parts, separated by the Preliminary Written Test.
- Register with your mobile number as user ID and choose the notifications and posts you want; the fee follows from that choice.
- Pay by card, net banking or UPI.
- Submit Part I, with a scanned photograph and specimen signature combined into one JPG of 30 to 100 KB.
- Submit Part II after qualifying in the preliminary, with scanned certificates. Those dates come later.
- One mobile number and one email address per candidate, both unique, and neither can be changed until the recruitment concludes. Apply for every eligible post on the same registered number.
- No editing after submission.
- The form cannot be submitted from a smartphone. Use a desktop or laptop, and install the Aadhaar app beforehand for face authentication.
- Paying is not applying. Pay, fill the form and fail to press submit and the application is rejected without notice, with no refund.
Documents to have ready
- SC community certificate carrying the sub-classification into Group I, II or III, from a competent authority of the Government of Telangana, under Act No. 15 of 2025.
- Non-Creamy Layer certificate for BC candidates, issued on or after 1 April 2026. Fail to produce it on the day of verification and you are moved to Open Competition, permanently.
- EWS certificate, also issued on or after 1 April 2026.
- Local candidature certificates: the bonafide certificate for classes 1 to 7, or a residence certificate.
- Special category certificates for Home Guard, Children of Police Personnel and the rest. These are valid only if obtained on or after 29 July 2026, while an NCC certificate must be dated on or before it.
No relevant column should be left blank: an incomplete or incorrect application is summarily rejected, and information furnished later is not entertained under any circumstances. False, tampered or fabricated particulars attract punitive action under the law.
Participating Institutes

The legal framework
- The Telangana Public Employment (Organization of Local Cadres and Regulation of Direct Recruitment) Order, 2018, in G.O. Ms. No. 124 of 30 August 2018, read with G.O. Ms. No. 128 of 30 June 2021 and G.O. Ms. No. 46 of 4 April 2022. This is the 95 per cent local rule, and it also defines who counts as a local.
- The Telangana State and Subordinate Service Rules, 1996, whose Rule 22 carries the reservation scheme and whose Rule 22-A applies to Post Codes 21, 25 and 26 only.
- Act No. 15 of 2025 of 14 April 2025, which sub-classified Scheduled Caste reservation into Groups I, II and III.
- Orders of 4 August 2021 fixing the local cadre unit for each post, and G.O. Ms. No. 46 of 4 April 2022, which sets the contiguous district cadres and distributes vacancies within them by population.
The Board is not limited to police posts. Its site carries completed 2025 recruitments for Assistant Public Prosecutors, for technical posts in the Forensic Science Laboratory, and for TGSRTC Drivers, Shramiks and Supervisor Trainees, each with its own selected candidates list and selection cut-offs.
Exam Centres
| Stage | What tells you the venue |
|---|---|
| Preliminary Written Test | Hall ticket, issued online |
| Physical Measurement and Efficiency Test, and the Trade or Driving Test | Intimation Letter downloaded from the Board's site, carrying venue, date and time. Bring it to the test |
| Final Written Examination | Hall ticket, to candidates who qualified in the physical tests |
The Board posts nothing. Dates for downloading each document are announced on the website, and its rule is wide: TSLPRB website information is final, legitimate and definitive as far as correspondence with candidates is concerned, and no individual correspondence by any other means will be entertained.
Bring the hall ticket and blue or black ball point pens to any written test, the Intimation Letter to the physical tests, and originals with two sets of photocopies to certificate verification, on the day itself.
The units the recruitment is organised into
Constable vacancies are published unit by unit, and the unit is what the 95 per cent local rule operates on: under the Telangana Public Employment Order, 2018, 95 per cent of each unit's vacancies go to local candidates of that unit.
| Post | Unit |
|---|---|
| Constable (Civil) and (AR) | 26 police districts and commissionerates, from Komarambheem-Asifabad and Adilabad in the north to Nagarkurnool and Wanaparthy in the south |
| Fire Fighter | 33 districts, Hyderabad the largest at 163 direct recruitment posts and Ranga Reddy next at 82 |
| Warder (Male) and (Female) | Seven contiguous district cadres, CDC-I to CDC-VII, vacancies split between districts in proportion to population |
| Sub Inspector (Civil) and Station Fire Officer | Zones |
| Deputy Jailor and ASI Finger Print Bureau | Contiguous zones |
The local rule does not apply to Post Codes 23 (SAR CPL), 25 (SPF Constable), 13 or 16, which are recruited state-wide. But to claim any vertical or horizontal reservation even on a state-wide post, a candidate must be a local of Telangana as defined in the Presidential Order and hold a community certificate from a competent Telangana authority. Candidates of other states may apply, and are considered under Open Competition.
Each unit holds two kinds of vacancy: DR, direct recruitment, which includes the special category seats, and LR, the backlog, which is filled with local candidates of that district or commissionerate only. For Constable (Civil) the backlog is 27 posts, all BC-C, across thirteen units.

| 16 September 2026, 5 p.m. | The extended last date for online applications |
The cut-off dates fixed in the notifications
- Age is reckoned as on 1 July 2026.
- Educational and technical qualifications as on 29 July 2026, and the certificate produced at verification must bear a date on or before it.
- Non-Creamy Layer and EWS certificates must be issued on or after 1 April 2026.
- Special category certificates on or after 29 July 2026; NCC certificates on or before it.
Nothing else is dated yet. The Preliminary Written Test, the Part II application window, the physical tests and the Final Written Examination are each announced on the Board's website when fixed, and candidates are asked to check it regularly until the recruitment concludes rather than rely on rumours through media or social media.
One deadline is easy to underestimate. The Board's own warning in the extension press note: candidates who wait until the last day or the last minute are most likely to face queuing congestion, delayed online response and failed submission. With more than 3.3 lakh registrations and 3.8 lakh candidatures on the portal, that is a real risk rather than boilerplate.
Admit Card
Download only, from tgprb.in. There is no postal despatch and no other channel. The site carries, against each recruitment, Apply Online, a User Guide, the notification and its amendments, and the hall ticket and application links.
| Document | For |
|---|---|
| Hall ticket | Preliminary Written Test |
| Part II application | Only candidates who qualify in the preliminary, with scanned certificates |
| Intimation Letter | Physical Measurement and Efficiency Test, and the Trade or Driving Test |
| Hall ticket | Final Written Examination, to those who qualified in the physical tests |
A candidate who does not complete Part II does not continue, whatever their preliminary marks. And the notification says plainly that the mere issue of a hall ticket does not mean the candidature has been finally cleared: admission at every stage is provisional, and eligibility is checked against originals only after a candidate has qualified.
If you lose your application copy, log in and print it again. If the registration OTP does not arrive, it is also sent to the registered email address, spam folder included.
The Board runs a standing Fraud Alert on its front page: beware of touts and job racketeers offering to secure a job, and give them no money. Candidates who use wrongful means are disqualified and criminal cases are booked, and impersonation at a test is criminally prosecuted.
Result
| Post | Final merit is |
|---|---|
| Post Code 21 Constable (Civil), and 26, 27, 28 Fire Fighter and Warders | The Final Written Examination alone, out of 200 |
| Post Codes 22 and 25, Constable (AR) and SPF Constable | Final Written Examination (100) plus the normalized run marks (100) |
| Post Code 23, Constable (SAR CPL) | Final Written Examination (100) plus the run marks (100) |
| Post Codes 11, 17, 18, 19 | The aggregate of Papers III and IV, out of 400 |
| Post Codes 12 to 14 and 16 | Papers III and IV (200) plus the run marks (100) |
| Post Codes 35 and 36 | Trade Test or Driving Test plus the written examination |
| Post Code 33, ASI Finger Print Bureau | The aggregate of Papers II and III |
Ties go to the candidate born earlier. Appearance in every test and written examination is compulsory, and absence from any one of them disqualifies automatically; securing the minimum qualifying marks vests no right to be considered for selection. On the multi-paper examinations, a candidate scoring 40 per cent and above in each merit paper may be considered for OC or EWS posts irrespective of social category.
Expect, in order: a preliminary key, a preliminary result, physical test results, a final key, a final written result, selection lists by post code and published cut-offs. That is the pattern of the Board's completed 2025 recruitments, each of which carried a List of Selected Candidates and a separate Selection Cut-Offs document.
And there is no waiting list. The provisionally selected list is final, there is no sliding under any circumstances, and a vacancy falling out through adverse antecedents, medical unfitness, relinquishment or non-joining simply lapses.
Cut Off
| Bar | What it is | Fixed or floating |
|---|---|---|
| Preliminary qualifying marks | 30 per cent OC and EWS, 25 per cent BC, 20 per cent SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen and, at constable level, Home Guards. Clearing it takes you to the physical tests and nothing more | Fixed in the notification |
| Final written qualifying marks | 40 per cent OC and EWS, 35 per cent BC, 30 per cent SC, ST and Ex-Servicemen, in each paper where there is more than one | Fixed in the notification |
| Selection cut-off | The mark at which the posts run out, by unit, category and special category | Floating, published after selection |
| Post | Components | Total |
|---|---|---|
| Constable (Civil), Fire Fighter, Warders | Final Written Examination alone | 200 |
| Constable (AR), (SAR CPL), SPF Constable | Written 100 plus the run 100 | 200 |
| Sub Inspector (Civil), Station Fire Officer, Deputy Jailors | Papers III and IV, 200 each | 400 |
| Reserve Sub Inspectors and SI in SPF | Papers III and IV, 100 each, plus the run 100 | 300 |
| Constable (Mechanic) and (Driver) | Practical test 100 plus technical paper 200 | 300 |
| ASI Finger Print Bureau | Paper II 100 plus Paper III 200 | 300 |
The unit matters as much as the mark, because of the 95 per cent local rule. For Constable (Civil) the vacancies are divided across 26 police districts and commissionerates, from Warangal Commissionerate with 496 direct recruitment posts down to Kamareddy with 42. The same mark can select in one unit and not another, and a non-local competes for one post in twenty. Inside each unit the seats are split again among BC-A to BC-E, SC Groups I, II and III, ST, EWS and Open, with horizontal reservation for women, Ex-Servicemen, Meritorious Sports Persons and the special categories. A cut-off belongs to a unit, a category and a quota together, never to the state.
The special category quotas, which carve out a large share
| Post codes | Quotas |
|---|---|
| 21 and 22 | 15 per cent Home Guards, 4 per cent Children of Police Personnel, 3 per cent NCC, 2 per cent Children of Deceased and Incapacitated personnel |
| 23 | 25 per cent Home Guards, 4 per cent CPP, 3 per cent NCC, 2 per cent CDI |
| 25 | 25 per cent Home Guards, 5 per cent Children of SPF Personnel, 2 per cent NCC |
| 26 | 5 per cent Home Guards, 5 per cent Children of members of Fire Services |
| 27 | 5 per cent Children of Prisons Department Personnel |
So on the armed reserve and SPF constable posts a quarter of the seats go to serving Home Guards. Where a special category goes unfilled, those vacancies revert to the general candidates of the respective open and social categories.
Women's reservation is 33 and one third per cent of the vacancies in each category, including EWS, on Post Codes 21, 25 and 26, and 10 per cent on Post Code 22. It is horizontal, adjusted within the category the woman belongs to, and where qualified women are not available the seats are filled by men of the same communal category rather than carried forward.
One caveat the Board records itself: relaxation in the upper age limit and reservation for the BC-E group is subject to pending litigation, including final orders in Civil Appeal Nos. 2628-2637 of 2010, and to orders of the Government.
Preparation Tips
Check the age. It has moved three times
The notified upper limit for constable posts was 22, and the Government has since raised it by 5 years, then 2 more, then 3 more, the last on 9 September 2026, a week before applications close. That third raise excludes Constable (Driver) and leaves the sub inspector posts on 7 years of raises. Because the online form does not validate age, nothing stops an ineligible candidate paying and applying, and the fee is not refunded.
Know which post code you are competing for
| Constable (Civil), Fire Fighter, Warder | Constable (AR), (SAR CPL), SPF Constable | |
|---|---|---|
| The run | Qualifying only | 100 marks, half the final score |
| Final Written Examination | Graded out of 200 | Graded out of 100 |
| Local rule | 95 per cent to locals of the unit | Applies to AR; does not apply to SAR CPL or SPF |
If you are applying to the armed reserve or the Special Protection Force, train as hard as you study. The mile is worth as much as the paper.
On the preliminary, clear the bar and stop
Preliminary marks have no bearing on final selection. The bar is 30, 25 or 20 per cent by category, and a mark above it buys you nothing. But do not guess wildly either: each wrong answer costs 0.2 of a mark, so five wrong undo one right, and a blank costs nothing. Needing 60 marks out of 200 to clear the OC bar, there is no case for guessing at questions you have no purchase on. The final constable paper carries no such clause; at sub inspector level the objective halves of the language papers carry a 25 per cent penalty.
Sub inspector candidates: the language papers can only hurt you
Papers I and II are qualifying and their marks do not count. Miss the qualifying mark in either and you are out whatever Papers III and IV look like. So give them exactly enough preparation to clear 40, 35 or 30 per cent and not an hour more, remembering that 75 of the 100 marks in each is descriptive: precis, letters or reports, essays, topical paragraphs and comprehension. Writing practice, not reading practice. And choose Telugu or Urdu deliberately, because the option once exercised is final.
Train for the run first, because it is tested first
Men run 1,600 metres in 7 minutes 15 seconds, women 800 metres in 5 minutes 20. Fail it and you are sent home before being measured. If your post scores the run, train to beat the standard rather than meet it: the gradation table pays 50 marks at 7:15 and 100 at 4:15, so every twenty seconds is worth five marks.
Check the height and the eyes before you pay
167.6 cm for men and 152.5 cm for women on the constable and sub inspector posts, 162 cm for Mechanic, Driver and ASI, with relaxation only for Scheduled Tribes and Aboriginal Tribes of the nine Agency districts. Vision must be 6/6 in each eye with a full field, and colour blindness, squint or any morbid condition of the eye or lids disqualifies. Take the Board's advice and see a Civil Surgeon before applying rather than after four stages of effort.
And do not neglect Contents pertaining to the State of Telangana. It is a syllabus head in both written papers, the one part where generic national material will not serve.
Practical points that cost candidates places
- Apply from a computer, not a phone.
- One mobile number and one email address, used for every post, kept in your own custody for the whole recruitment.
- Press submit. Paying the fee and filling the form is not applying.
- Get the Non-Creamy Layer and EWS certificates dated on or after 1 April 2026 and the special category certificates on or after 29 July 2026. A BC candidate who cannot produce the Non-Creamy Layer certificate on the day is moved to Open Competition permanently.
- Do not wait until 16 September. The Board itself warns of congestion and failed submissions.
Sample Papers
No previous year question papers or model papers are available for this recruitment as of now. The Board publishes the syllabi (Annexures II and III), the run gradation table (Annexure I) and the category wise breakup of vacancies with each notification on tgprb.in, and it prescribes no textbook.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who conducts police recruitment in Telangana, and is a recruitment open now?
The Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board (TSLPRB), at the DGP Office Complex, Lakdi-ka-pul, Hyderabad. Four notifications issued on 29 July 2026 cover 7,437 vacancies, and online applications close at 5 p.m. on 16 September 2026.
What posts are being recruited?
7,112 Constable and equivalent posts, 275 Sub Inspector and equivalent, 27 Constable (Mechanic) and (Driver), and 23 Assistant Sub Inspector, Finger Print Bureau, across the Police, Special Protection Force, Fire Services and Prisons departments.
What are the stages?
Preliminary Written Test, then the Physical Efficiency and Physical Measurement Tests, then the Final Written Examination, then certificates verification. The Mechanic, Driver and ASI Finger Print Bureau posts have no Preliminary Written Test.
Does the Preliminary Written Test count towards selection?
No, it screens. The bar is 30 per cent for OC including EWS, 25 per cent for BC and 20 per cent for SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen and, at constable level, Home Guards. The paper is one of 200 questions for 200 marks in three hours, on an OMR sheet, in English-Telugu and English-Urdu.
Is there negative marking?
Yes in the preliminary: 20 per cent of full marks for a wrong answer, with a blank scoring zero. The constable notification's final examination notes prescribe none. At sub inspector level the objective parts of the two language papers carry a 25 per cent deduction.
What is the running standard, and does the run carry marks?
Men run 1,600 metres in 7 minutes 15 seconds, Ex-Servicemen in 9:30, women 800 metres in 5 minutes 20 seconds. For Post Codes 22, 23 and 25 at constable level and 12, 13, 14 and 16 at sub inspector level the run is scored out of 100 on the gradation table; for the others it is qualifying only.
What is the height requirement, and is there a chest measurement?
167.6 cm for men and 152.5 cm for women on the constable and sub inspector posts, and 162 cm for Constable (Mechanic), (Driver) and ASI men. There is no chest measurement and no chest expansion requirement. Long jump (4 m men, 2.50 m women) and shot put (6 m with a 7.26 kg shot, 4 m with a 4 kg shot) are qualifying only.
Is there any height relaxation?
Yes, but not by category. Scheduled Tribes and Aboriginal Tribes in the Agency areas of Adilabad, Komarambheem-Asifabad, Mancherial, Nagarkurnool, Khammam, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Mulugu, Mahabubabad and Warangal need 160 cm for men and 150 cm for women. The Board's FAQ states there is otherwise no relaxation for SC, ST or BC candidates.
What is the age limit, after all the changes?
The notified limits as on 1 July 2026 were 18 to 22 for constable posts and 21 to 25 for sub inspector, ASI and Constable (Driver). Raises of 5 years in May, 2 more in August and 3 more in September come to 10 years on the constable posts and on Constable (Mechanic) and 7 years on Constable (Driver), the sub inspector posts and the ASI post. Category relaxations of up to 5 further years apply on top.
Does the form check my age?
No. Because the relaxations differ, age is not validated in the online form. It is the candidate's responsibility, and an ineligible candidature is rejected at any time with no refund.
What educational qualification is needed?
Intermediate for constable posts, a degree for sub inspector posts, SSC with an ITI certificate in one of four motor trades for the Mechanic post, and a B.E., B.Tech or BSc in computing for the ASI post. All are reckoned as on 29 July 2026.
What is the fee, and do I pay twice for two posts?
₹600 at constable level and ₹750 at sub inspector level and for the ASI post for SC and ST candidates local to Telangana; ₹1,200 and ₹1,500 for everyone else. You pay for each post, with a rebate of ₹100 per additional Common Procedure Regimen (₹50 for SC and ST), because the physical test is held once. Apply on the same registered mobile number. Nothing is refunded or transferred.
Can candidates from other states apply?
Yes, but they are considered under Open Competition. To claim any vertical or horizontal reservation a candidate must be a local of Telangana as defined in the Presidential Order, with a community certificate from a competent Telangana authority. Separately, 95 per cent of each unit's vacancies go to local candidates of that unit, except on Post Codes 23, 25, 13 and 16.
Are the sub inspector language papers counted?
No. Papers I and II are qualifying and their marks are not taken into account for final selection, but a candidate who fails to qualify in either is out irrespective of Papers III and IV.
Is there a waiting list?
No. There shall be no waiting list, the selected list is final, and there shall not be any sliding under any circumstances. Fallout vacancies lapse. Ties go to the candidate born earlier.
What are the medical standards, and are tattoos a bar?
6/6 distant vision and 0/5 (Snellen) near vision in each eye, a full field of vision, and colour blindness, squint or any morbid condition of the eye or lids disqualifying. Knock-knees, pigeon chest, flat foot, varicose veins, hammer toes, fractured limbs, decayed teeth, stammering and hard of hearing are also listed. Tattoos are not in themselves a bar.
What is the salary?
₹24,280 to ₹72,850 for a constable and ₹42,300 to ₹1,15,270 for a sub inspector. The Board's press note puts the starting annual salary including HRA at about ₹4.21 to ₹4.59 lakh for a constable and ₹7.34 to ₹8.00 lakh for a sub inspector in the Police Department or SPF.
Can I apply from my phone?
No, the form needs a desktop or laptop. Install the Aadhaar app beforehand for face authentication, and remember that paying the fee without pressing submit is not an application.
