  • You must sit every paper. Missing one disqualifies you.
  • The Commission may use digital or paper question papers, and digital or conventional evaluation.

Answer key and OMR sheets

The Preliminary key goes up after the test. Objections are online only, within the window; an Expert Committee decides, and the final key can't be challenged. Marks for deleted questions are shared out proportionately, to three decimals. Your OMR image is downloadable from your login; keep it, as duplicates aren't issued. Wrong bubbling of booklet series or hall ticket number, whitener, eraser, blade or chalk powder, or a tampered barcode invalidates the sheet.

Phones, calculators, tablets, Bluetooth devices, pen drives, smart watches and cameras are banned even switched off. Malpractice under the Telangana State Public Examinations (Prevention of Malpractices and Unfair Means) Act, 1997 carries three to seven years' jail and a fine of ₹5,000 to ₹1,00,000.

You're local if you studied four consecutive years in the area up to the qualifying exam (the post's, or Class VII, whichever is lower), or lived there four years if you didn't study; failing that, a seven year test applies. For visually or hearing impaired candidates who went to special schools, the parents' native place decides.

Selection Process
  1. Preliminary Test: shortlisting only.
  2. Main Examination: 900 counted marks.
  3. Certificate verification, Multi-Zone, community and category wise.
  4. Medical examination.

No interview.

Shortlist for Mains

Fifty times the vacancies in each Multi-Zone, not statewide. If a reserved category falls short, more are taken beyond 1:50 under Rules 22 and 22(A) of the Telangana State and Subordinate Service Rules 1996. In a multi-session CBRT, scores are normalized (formula from an Experts' Committee, to 5 decimal places) and only normalized marks go into the General Ranking List.

Minimum marks

CategoryGeneral English, and Mains aggregate
OC, EWS and Meritorious Sportsperson40 per cent
Backward Classes35 per cent
SC, ST and PH30 per cent

If SC and ST candidates don't reach the minimum, they're selected by rank anyway. Reaching it doesn't guarantee anything.

Certificate verification and web options

Bring all originals on the day; anything missing or mismatched means rejection. You submit web options for post and Multi-Zone there, and they're final: you can't be allotted any post or zone you didn't list. Allotment follows Mains merit, eligibility, preference, reservation and local status, and you must be willing to serve anywhere in Telangana.

No waiting list (G.O. Ms. No. 81 of 22 February 1997, G.O. Ms. No. 544 of 4 December 1998, Rule 6 of the TSPSC Rules of Procedure). Unfilled posts carry forward to the next recruitment.

Government employees must inform their head of office in writing and give an NOC when asked. False information can bar you from future TGPSC exams; impersonation bars you permanently from every PSC in India; canvassing disqualifies you.

About nineteen months from notification to provisional selection. Notification 04/2022 was cancelled, so the state has completed one Group-I cycle in four years. No new notification has been issued as of now; watch TGPSC's recruitment notifications.

Admit Card

Hall tickets download from the TGPSC website from seven days before the exam until four hours before it starts. Nothing is posted, and the Commission sends no individual messages: every update, from edit windows to certificate verification lists, is on the website only.

Result

The Preliminary marks are never published. For the Mains, everyone's total goes on the TGPSC website, and your paper-wise Memorandum of Marks is in your login for one week only. Download it.

Recounting of written papers: online, within 15 days of the provisional marks, ₹1,000 per paper. No revaluation (Rule 3(ix)(d)). Rejected or disqualified candidates get no marks memo, and their fees are forfeited.

The 2024 provisional selection list (25 September 2025), based on the Mains of 21 to 27 October 2024 and the ranking list of 30 March 2025, is subject to Writ Appeal No. 1066 of 2025 and other pending cases, as well as fitness, character checks and original certificates.

Cut Off

The Commission doesn't publish cut-off marks for Group-I, and doesn't publish Preliminary marks at all. You can work out your own raw Preliminary score from the final key and your OMR image, but in a multi-session CBRT only normalized marks count.

What is fixed: 40, 35 or 30 per cent by category in General English and in the Mains aggregate, and the 1:50 shortlist per Multi-Zone. The General Ranking List and selection list appear on the TGPSC website.

Preparation Tips
  1. Write, under time. There's no interview: 900 marks of descriptive answers decide everything, across seven three-hour papers.
  2. Treat Paper VI as a subject. It names committees, G.O.s and events, from the Gentlemen's Agreement to the Million March. National GS material won't cover it.
  3. Count the Telangana content. Paper VI, a full part of Paper II, a part of Paper IV, and three Preliminary heads: close to half the syllabus.
  4. Prioritise Paper I. The General Essay is the first marks tie-breaker in the Mains.
  5. Don't ignore General English. It's easy, but failing it ends your candidature. Practise precis, expansion and letters.
  6. Attempt every Preliminary question. There's no negative marking, and the marks never count.
  7. Know your Multi-Zone. It decides your shortlist and local status.
  8. List every post you'd accept in your web options.
  9. Get certificates in the right form early: Tahsildar-issued, Form VII-B for BC.
Sample Papers

No sample papers are available for this exam as of now. After each Preliminary Test the Commission posts the initial and final answer keys, and your OMR image, on the TGPSC website.

The full scheme and syllabus are in Annexure-II of Notification 02/2024, listed under recruitment notifications.
