WBPSC Food SI Syllabus, Exam Pattern, Eligibility
126 topics across 4 subjects. Every question carries a written explanation.
Sub-Inspectors in the Subordinate Food and Supplies Service, Grade III, work under the Food and Supplies Department of West Bengal. The job means a lot of touring in rural areas, and the advertisement makes fitness for that a condition. WBPSC recruits them through a Madhyamik-level written test and a short personality test.
The latest recruitment, Advertisement 04/2023 for 509 posts, is stuck. The written exam was held on 16 and 17 March 2024. On 23 April 2024 the Calcutta High Court stayed the whole process after petitions alleging the paper had leaked on WhatsApp, and sent around 60 FIRs to the state CID. WBPSC has posted nothing further on this recruitment since then, and no new advertisement has been issued.

Cut Off
No cut-off was published for the 2024 written exam before the stay. For the previous recruitment (Advt 26/2018), WBPSC called 3,024 candidates to interview and published a merit list of 957 recommended candidates in March 2021.
Preparation Tips
- The written test is half General Studies and half Arithmetic at Madhyamik level, so a clean, fast arithmetic score is the surest way up the list.
- The personality test carries only 20 marks; the written score decides most of the rank.
- The six session papers from March 2024 were released by WBPSC and are the best guide to the current standard.
